I think I always believed he would come home but I have to tell you there were many days and nights in that hospital that I became frustrated. The thought of him coming home was very bleak.
2 different drs gave up on him. Two different times a different dr called me in the hallway shaking his heads in a negative manner saying, "He is not responding to the medicine, I'm sorry" I said "Sorry? You mean you have given up on my husband? I won't give up on him, he is my husband wives don't give up on their husbands!"
The doc just looked at me with a pitiful look in his eyes.
I would like to thank my kids they have been to hell and back. They have had too many "Medical People" tell them that their dad will not live more than 2 days. I finally got ahold of the dr in charge and had everyone who had said anything (there were 2 nurses and a nursing student) banned from his room. I did that because of my kids, they didn't need to hear that garbage. A 4th nurse told me that he could have anything he wanted to eat or drink, he was not restricted. I just looked at her and said, "Sweetheart, why don't you just get the hellout of here and go read his chart!" Then I trotted out to the nursing manager and had her also banned from his room. My kids are the greatest kids in the World, to me, just like your kids are the greatest kids in the World to you.
I will not go on and on. I would like to say that we were in that damn place for 2 months you get to know everyone and I would like to say that 96.9% of the nurses
were great. It was the 4 others that stained the nursing profession name. And our own BNGPC's Mary Jane is the best nurse in the WORLD, she taught me things, I may have listened to her more because I trust her.
I just wanted to take a few minutes and thank all of my Steeler Family, individually, for being YOU. I would like to thank each of you who contacted the Lord on Terry's and our family's behalf. There is power in prayer and you once again have proven it.
Terry & I and the kids will need more prayers as the drs decided he has CHF (Congestive Heart Failure), Terry and I will have to live differently as far as eating and a few more things, but we can and we will do it.
You are all just like Big Ben and the rest of the Steelers..................Never say Never.
Love,
Lyn:)
