I definitely love Tornadoes and my fascination of them, but they do scare the living daylights out of me with their power and destruction. Lighting is another one. |

Well I have lived thru Andrew in 92 in South Fla. Then the Blizzard of 04 which dropped 33 inches of snow over nite on SE Indiana. But I would have to say Tornados freak me out the most. One minute nothing. Then I hear the sirens go off and we out the door in a flash to storm shelter. Having taken a few classes thru Red Cross we have storm kits already in trunks of all our cars each with a battery operated scanner. Even after what happened to the Gulf Coast I think I would rather back down south than in tornado country. |

Definitely severe thunderstorms, with high winds, lightening, thunder and always the possibility of turning into a tornado. Never used to hear anything about tornadoes in Pittsburgh but the last few years, during the summer months, they usually have a few watches and/or warnings regarding them. UGH!!!! Jeannine |

33 Inches is nothing. Why in 1993 while I was living in Lead SD it
would do that in 2 days, stop, and do it again. It did that for 2 months
before leveling off. They got a record 368 inches of snow that
winter.

I know 33 inches isn't much compared to other places but since I have lived up north never seen that much. Also I live in a small town. The town only has 3 plow trucks. So they had to ask farmers and private companys to help plow the snow. It was crazy 1 day you see green grass next day wake up theirs almost 3 feet of snow on ground. The road I live on was plowed so just bearly 1 car could drive on it. It's a regular paved road. My sisters road wasn't even plowed till week later. Good thing she lives on corner. Once it warmed and the snow started melting it flooded all the rivers. Little town west of me got flooded. |

I am terrified of tornadoes. I always have been. I think the Wizzard of Oz did me in when I was a little girl. It was funny, when I first moved to Florida and I realized for the first time that there are no basements here, the first words out of my mouth were... "what the hell do you do during a tornado?" I still have nightmares about tornados and I've never seen one. I know there were tornadoes all around us during Ivan, but you couldn't see them or hear the roar of a tornado over the roar of the winds. I think an earthquake would also freak me out, because there is NO warning. |

Definitely thunder, especially when it knocks out power to people's homes.
Ooh, the thought of it scares the hell out of me. |

The forces of nature that most frighten me are really really strong winds cause here in Minnesota.. they can turn into tornados at anytime if the conditions are right |
