How did the apostles baptize?
Acts-2:38- Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
008:012 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
008:016 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
010:048 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
019:005 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
1Cor. 1:13--Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?
v14--I thank God that I baptized none of you, BUT Crispus and Gaius;
v15-Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.
v16--And I baptized ALSO the household of Stephanas; besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.
Paul's ministry was not primarily baptizing; but he DID BAPTIZE A FEW PEOPLE. There were others whose work was to do the baptizing. Each one had a different work to do in the body. But to say they did not baptize is in error.
The word Baptize is not even in the O.T. So it is exclusively a N.T work. HOw do you say it was abolished with the work of John the Baptist? Paul plainly told the believers in Acts 19, who had been baptized by John to be re-baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.
How do you get around this? You do greatly err, not knowing the Scripture of the power of God.
Acts 002:038 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost
002:039 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call
002:040 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
002:041 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls
Now here was 3,000 people ready to be baptized, after they heard Peter preach this great message. Now I know the Bible does not say that the apostles baptized them, but do you think any body else did besides the apostles?
If they did not baptized them, what do you think the people thought of them, and also what would have been their excuse for not baptizing them? Seems to me we have got to rightly divide the word.
Peter preach this great message and he also along with the rest of the apostles did the baptizing and I praise the Lord that I have obeyed this message, and gladly received it and was baptized in the name of Jesus, and spoke in tongues when the HOLY GHOST came and I am going to keep on proclaiming this message.
To me this had to be the greatest message besides Jesus Christ and him crucified, this message was so powerful that 3,000 were added to the church. There were 3,000 that gladly received when today it is hard to find one that will receive this word. No wonder Jesus asked the question, when I return will I find faith on earth?
Acts:016:025 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
016:026 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.
016:027 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.
016:028 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. 016:029 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,
016:030 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
016:031 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
016:032 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. 016:033 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.
Now in all honesty, why did this jailor and all his family be baptized that very night?
They had asked how to be saved ~~~~~ if Baptism is not part of the plan of salvation ~~~~~~~~ if Paul did not tell him this~~~~~ how did he know to be Baptized that very night?~~~~~~~~
Why was it so important?~~~~ Who Baptized them??~~ Yet, now some are saying Baptism is NOT for souls today????? My, My.
Because they received not a LOVE for the TRUTH, God shall send them strong delusion; that they should believe a lie and be damned.
Seems to me most people are under the delusion.
Acts16:29-
Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas
016:033
And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway
Now what I would like to know who was the he was talking about here? Good question simple answer. This had to be talking about Paul, he was the one doing the baptizing.
See it was Paul who Baptized this man and his family. So, it proves that when this man asked Paul how to be saved, that Paul included Baptism as part of the plan of salvation; else, why did he and his whole family go out after midnight and be baptized? Boy, this crowd today saying baptism is of no real importance must have a hard time dealing with this; if they ever read it.
I thought of this last night~~~~~ this man must be the Stephanas which Paul spoke of in 1Cor. when he said he baptized only a Crispus and Gaius and also the household of Stephanas.
This would have to be the family of Stephanas~~ this jailor. How bout that? See how the Scripture explains itself? Isn't it beautiful?
Yes!!!!! So glad God showed me the truth. I do not frustrate the Grace of God. I accept the Word just as he shows it; No trying to get around the way God chose to do things.
See, also that Paul and Peter were in perfect agreement on doctrine~~~~~ I know some idiot preachers who say Paul and Peter disagreed~~~~~~ such foolishness. Both were His Apostles; so they had to have the same understanding.
See, when People asked Peter how to be saved, he told them the very same thing; believe, repent, be Baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remissions of sins; receive the Baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Yes, they told it the very same way. See this was the household of Stephanas that Paul said that he had baptized. That is why I keep telling these people that they have got to rightly divide the word and to have some understanding about the word. Once again why would anyone think that the apostles did not baptize, and yet they all preach the same message. that baptism in Jesus name was necessary in the plan of salvation?
We know from scripture that they linked baptism with salvation.
Acts 004:012
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
006:001- Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
006:002- Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. ( in other words we should not have to keep on telling that baptism is necessary and all this other because that is the principals and the doctrines of Christ. This is what the NT. church was founded on.)
006:003 - And this will we do, if God permit.
006:004 -- For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
006:005 - And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
006:006 - If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
006:007 - For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:
006:008 - But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.
006:009 - But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.
006:010 - For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. See why we are working and laboring among you about baptism in Jesus name, it' not because we are trying to be smart or that we are trying to prove anything. It's because baptism is necessary, and also that we love the name of Jesus, a name above every other name, and also because we love you.) MAY THE LORD BLESS.
008:030 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
008:031 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. ( see that is what we have been trying to do is to guide)
008:032 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
008:033 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. 008:034 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
008:035 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
008 :036 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? (we can see from this that even thou there was nothing said about baptism in the scriptures we know from what the enuch said that Philip preached baptism to him. He said here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?)
008:037 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.( Look at this what a revelation that the eunuch got from the preaching. The same revelation that Peter had, that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, a revelation that so many today does not have. So we can also see from this that Philip was teaching the same thing that Peter was teaching, BAPTISM, and also that Jesus was the son of God)
Enough truth has been taught right here alone to save the world if they would obey.
I find that they have all substituted a false way of salvation and are in open defiance of the Living God. If God set Baptism in the name of His Son to be the means for the remission of sins, who thinks they can detour this way and make unto themselves another way and still be accepted by God? Just doesn't make sense to me how so many think they can defy God and His chosen way of salvation and still make it in.
But of course the answer lies with the condition of the last, or Laodecian church. Notice that this church is said to be naked, blind, miserable, lukewarm [which God hates]-- wretched, and spewed out of God's mouth.
It is very evident from the attitude and beliefs of most people we talk to that they are in this Laodecian church. They have been sent a strong delusion from God; because they did not receive a LOVE for the truth. This is very clear to me. For they do resist the truth so clearly proven by Scripture after Scripture.
This which you and I are saying is NOT man's thought's; it is not some old past history of some 'church father’s words. NO, this is the pure Word of God; not adding to it; not taking away from it. So for someone to resist this and call it wrong, is to be absolutely calling God himself a LIE. Either this Word is God's word or we have no Word of God. And if it is God's Word, then they are calling God a LIE.
For it is evident that they still cling to their 'church's belief's in spite of pure Scripture proving the right way of salvation. This is not up for debate; it is the Word of God. God did not debate His Word. If we were speaking something we 'just believe' then it would be debatable; but we are quoting the Word of God. That is not debatable.
You either accept it by faith or you renounce it and Call God a lie.
Right here is where you can see the ones who have the anointing teaching them; and those who do not. Unless one has a true revelation in the Word of God from the Holy Ghost, he will never see the truth of this matter of baptism.
Even those who practice baptism in the Name of the Lord Jesus, do it for a wrong reason. They do not know why it is this way; they are in error, denying the Father and the Holy Ghost as separate beings from Jesus.
See, none of these people have this true revelation. Not the trinity people; and not the Jesus only people; they are ALL in error.
God will prove it and judge them for this refusal of His revealed truth.
Jesus is the ONLY one who has authority to pronounce or invoke the power of the Father by using His name. We are not given that place; it is only Jesus who is said to be under the Headship of the Father. Only Jesus. Even our prayers must be in the name of Jesus. You cannot go to the Father except through Jesus.
All the rest of us ADAMS are under the Headship of Jesus; that is as high as we can rightly go. We cannot go directly to the Father; we must go through Jesus.
That is why we must baptize as the Apostles did: in the NAME OF JESUS CHIRST.
Many people boast and think they are an authority on truth; but when you find that they do not have this true revelation, you know they are still in darkness and know not where they are going.
Jesus is not the name of the Father. Jesus is not the name of the Holy Ghost. There is not one shred of evidence in the Word to prove this. Show me one Scripture saying the Holy ghost was named Jesus.
It was not because Jesus is the name of the Father; neither was it because they thought Jesus was the name of the Holy Ghost. And they most certainly did NOT BELIEVE IN ANY HEATHEN IDOL TRINITY GOD.
So see that there must be a correct answer to this. You cannot call Matt. 28: 19 wrong and you cannot call Acts wrong. So what is the answer?
Purely, that Jesus is the only person directly under the authority or headship of the Father. He is the only one authorized to invoke the Name of the Father. So when we use the Name of the Father's Son, Jesus, it takes us all the way to the very throne of God the Father.
We go to the Father THROUGH HIS SON JESUS.
Jesus is the only one with the authority to invoke the name of the father.
We Baptize in the Name of Jesus for we are under HIS AUTHORITY. HE WAS UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF HIS FATHER (GOD IS THE HEAD - OR AUTHORITY ) OVER JESUS; THEN JESUS IS OVER US, HIS CHURCH OR BODY.
THAT MEANS WHEN JESUS PRONOUNCED BAPTISM HE SAID IT UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF HIS FATHER, THEREFORE HE SAID "BAPTIZE --- IN THE NAME OF MY FATHER, (I AM TELLING YOU THIS UNDER HIS AUTHORITY) YOU DO IT IN THE NAME OF THE SON (YOU ARE UNDER MY AUTHORITY) AND THE HOLY GHOST ; FOR NOW HE IS OUR RULER.
No priest, no man on earth has the authority or right to invoke (call into action or power) the name of the Father. If you do, you are coming out from under the authority of Jesus and trying to go directly to the Father for yourself; and not go through Jesus. We cannot do that.
We must stay under the authority of Jesus. That is why the Apostles stopped at the name of Jesus -- they did not try to usurp the authority of Jesus and invoke the Name of the Father. No human being has that right.
What about Acts 2: 38? Why would Peter tell all those people wanting to know what to do to be saved to be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins? did not he hear what Jesus had said only about 10 days before to baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost? Do you think Peter just disregarded this or just made up another way? surely not! After all Jesus had given to Peter the KEYS to the Kingdom.
Now why would Jesus have done this if Peter were going to disobey his first command? To continue to think Peter disobeyed Jesus is to say Jesus did not know what he was doing. Right?
Let us see how Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, baptized. He went to Ephesus many years after the Day of Pentecost and found some disciples of John the Baptist there. "He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they say unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were you baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. The said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should com after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, the were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. (Acts 19:2-5). Although these disciples had already been baptized, the name of Jesus was so important as to cause them to be re-baptized in His name.
We do not believe that Paul changed the formula or mode of baptism when he baptized Lydia and her household (Acts 16:14-15) or the Philippian jailer. The later came trebling and fell down before Paul and Silas, saying, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And he took them the same hour of the night (shortly after midnight), and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway" (Acts 16:30-33). How can we doubt that Paul baptized these people using the same mode and formula that he used elsewhere, that is, immersion in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ?
Paul was not with the Apostles when Jesus gave his finial instructions to them in Matthew 28:19 and Luke 24:47, yet Paul baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. How did he know what to do? He said that his gospel was not a tradition of men but a revelation from God. "I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by a revelation of Jesus Christ" (Galatians 1:11-12).
Paul was chosen to bear Jesus' name to the Gentiles, and he wrote many divinely inspired epistles to the church. To this apostle, God revealed the mystery of the church, "which in other ages was not made know unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit" (Ephesians 3:5). Paul claimed to have divine authority: "If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord" (I Corinthians 14:37).
And Paul wrote, "Whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him" (Colossians 3:17). Water baptism is done in both word and deed. We cannot afford to overlook this command to the church. The church is "built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone" (Ephesians 2:20).
The apostles not only preached baptism in Jesus' name, but they practiced it. Nowhere can we find that they baptized using the words "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." Instead, we find them baptizing in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Paul said, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other
gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed" (Galatians 1:8). Let this be a solemn warning to us.
Some say that they will accept the words of Jesus in Matthew 28:19 but not those of Peter in Acts 2:38. But Peter spoke on the Day of Pentecost under the anointing of the Holy Ghost. Peter was one of the apostles, and to him had been given the keys of the kingdom, so we have no right to discredit his words.
Are you going to say Peter, Paul and were all wrong? I am not. They both said the same thing and also the other apostles as well as Phillip. THey all said to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.
See, these men knew they were authorized to go no higher than Jesus. They could not go to the Father. The Father is the HEAD OF CHIRST.
Christ is the HEAD OF MAN.
We can go no higher than Jesus. We must not usurp his authority and try to use the name of the Father. Only Jesus has that right or authority. We do not. No man on earth is authorized to use the name of the Father. Jesus said that because he was acknowledging that he himself was under the authority of the Father.
If anyone baptizes saying the name of the Father, that person is out of line- they are trying to step over into a place reserved exclusively for Jesus, God's Son. No other person has the right to invoke the name of the Father.
Now that is why we must all be baptized in the NAME OF JESUS CHRIST FOR THE REMISSION OF OUR SINS.
To do otherwise, is to call the wrath of God upon yourself.
HOW CAN YOU BE THE BRIDE OF CHRIST WITHOUT ACCEPTTNG HIS NAME? I COMMAND YOU TO BE BAPTIZE IN THE NAME of Jesus. YOUR SALVALTION DEPENDS ON IT
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
I
