~ What caused Tribulation? ~

What is tribulation? Here is the dictionary meaning: `distress or suffering resulting from oppression or persecution; also: a trying experience. ‘Persecute: ?to harass in a manner designed to injure, grieve or afflict. Specific: to cause to suffer because of belief. So, here we see that to harass, distress, and cause to suffer is the meaning of ‘tribulation? Now, our question for this study is WHAT caused the tribulation of God’s people?

Let’s go back to the beginning with Cain and Abel. Abel brought an acceptable sacrifice to God. Cain brought the works of his own hands, which God did not accept. This was true religion versus false religion. Cain was jealous of Abel because God accepted his offering and rejected his. Instead of seeing what he did wrong and repenting, Cain rose up and KILLED his brother. Cain was angry, incensed at Abel, jealous and mean-spirited. Because of this, religious persecution began. This was tribulation.

Rev. 18:24-[speaking of mystery Babylon:] And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth. So, this shows that Abel’s blood was shed in ‘mystery Babylon? So, what does that tell us? That Babylon was back in the days of Cain and Abel. So, it is clearly false religion, which is Satan’s kingdom on earth.

In Acts 6:We are told about Stephen, a great, Holy Ghost filled Christian. Cp 6: 8-And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people. Then there arose certain of the SYNAGOGUE, disputing with Stephen. And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

V 12,13- And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council. And set up FALSE witnesses, which said, this man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this Holy place, and the law.

Then Stephen preached a great sermon to them, ending with: V48-Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophets. V52-Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And they have slain them, which showed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now, the betrayers and murderers.

V54-When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.

V58-And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul.

Cp 8:1-And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was A GREAT PERSECUTION against the church.

Notice it was the ‘religious?group who was incensed against Stephen for his true testimony. They were the ones who killed Stephen. It was the same old ‘religious?group who had, a short time earlier, lied about and killed Jesus. See false religion against true religion, whore church against True church. So it has been all along the way.

So, what is considered ‘false?religion? What is true religion? Notice, their accusation against Stephen was that he was speaking against ‘their?holy place [their temple] and the LAW.

They said of Jesus, “John 19:7 The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.?/FONT>

What law did Jesus brake, which caused them to want him to die? He worked on their Sabbath. He said both my Father and I work hitherto. This incensed the Jews to want to kill Jesus. He broke their Sabbath law.

Hear Paul’s own testimony of how he persecuted the Christians because of his zeal toward LAW.

Ac 22:3 I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day. 22:4 And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women. 22:5 As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.

See here that Paul confessed that it was his zeal for their LAW which caused him to punish Christians. Notice also that it was the very high priest who gave Paul authority to punish those Christians. Notice also that he said this authority came from Jerusalem to kill Christians. They were brought bound unto Jerusalem. Jesus had said a prophet would not die outside of Jerusalem. So then Jerusalem is this false religion of law which kills the people of God and brings tribulation to them.

Ac 22:19 And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee: 22:20 And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.

Here Paul said that while he was in the Jew’s religion of law, he imprisoned and BEAT Christians is every synagogue. He later said that in the way ‘they?call heresy is how he now served God. So that law group called faith in Jesus heresy. It was they who persecuted the Christians. So it was law which brings tribulation to Christians.

Heb 10:28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

See then that the law brought people to death without any mercy. Law is the thing which has always brought death and persecution to Christians.

After Paul became a Christian, the Jews sought to kill him because they said he was teaching against the law of Moses and he had brought Gentiles into their temple. So because of this they went about to kill Paul. Again it was LAW and temple worship which persecuted Christians.

Ac 22:21 And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles. 22:22 And they gave him audience unto this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.

Here Paul was telling them about his conversion. As soon as he said Jesus sent him unto Gentiles, they set about to kill him.

Now I know that it was law which Adam and Cain went to. So because Abel was teaching Grace to people, Cain killed him. So here again, it was law which brought tribulation. That law is the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. That law brings death.

That church was in ‘great tribulation? It has been going on ever since. It is still going on in other countries right today. Christians are being tortured, persecuted, killed, for their testimony for Jesus. People, it will come to America.

After Saul became a Christian (Paul), the false religious bunch began to persecute him. Eph.3: 13-Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory. So, Paul was going through ‘tribulation?

Heb.11 is the great ‘faith?chapter- (so it is called). But it is really a chapter about the tribulations and persecutions God’s people have always had to endure.

V35-38-Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were TORTURED, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: And others had trial of CRUEL mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: They were STONED, they were SAWN ASUNDER, were tempted, were SLAIN with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being DESTITUTE, AFFLICTED, TORMENTED; of whom the world was not worthy; they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

Ac 14:19 And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.

See here that Paul himself was stoned so that he seemed dead. [I personally believe he was dead and God revived him.] So I ask, how is it that the religious world today teaches that tribulation has not yet occurred?

Ac 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

See here that the Apostles taught that we must have much tribulation to enter into the kingdom of God. We surely do not hear this message preached today, do we? All we now hear is a lie that Jesus is going to come partly down to earth and snatch, as a thief, his saints and carry them off into the sky somewhere to AVOID any tribulation. Then I wonder why God allowed the wonderful Saints of the past to go through so much tribulation and suffering?

1Thes. 3:3 That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto. 3:4 For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.

Here Paul taught that we are appointed to suffer afflictions and tribulation. So, if they went through it, is it now finished? Why are we not to see tribulation? All who live Godly WILL suffer persecutions. Are any living Godly now? Jesus suffered great tribulation. He suffered drastically at their hands.

This church was going through the great tribulation. It is still going on. When it is finished, Jesus will come in the clouds of heaven and set up his kingdom here on this earth. We will rule with a rod of iron.

All of the apostles were killed, and most of the Christians. When the Catholics (Roman head revived) took over they were incensed against all true Christians. They took the Word away from them, forbid them to have it, searched for all who had one and killed them. This was the great tribulation. Millions and millions of Christians were tortured and killed. That is the meaning of ‘tribulation?

This hatred of the ‘truth?is the spirit that caused the tribulation, the persecution of God’s people. It raises its ugly head any time the truth is presented. It ceased for a time in this country, because the church was in apostasy, teaching lies. When the truth comes again, that old hatred and jealousy will rise again and lie about the true Christian and cause them to be persecuted and killed.

Almost all the other countries are having persecution and being killed now to the Christians. Let’s all remember to pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters in other lands.
