~ Day of the Lord, - Peter ~

Now for anyone who might think this is just OT. Scripture, I will now show you by the one who had the keys to the Kingdom, that the NT. teaches the same thing about the Day of the Lord.

2 Peter 3

1. This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

2. That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Savior:

Notice, here Peter said that the apostles of Jesus taught the same thing the holy prophets of old taught.

3. Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

4. And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

5. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

6. Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

Now here is the explanation of the first heaven and earth -- it was the world before the flood.

7. But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Now this verse explains that the second heaven and earth are the one which lasts from the time of the flood until the fire judgment yet to come. The fire of God’s jealousy will destroy this second heaven and earth.

8. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

9. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

10. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Now don’t you see here, that Peter is saying the very same thing the old Prophets said? He said when the Day of the lord comes, the heavens (our world now) shall pass away with fervent heat; and the earth (our world now) and all the works in it will be burned up?

This time of burning up the present world is the time of Jesus?coming as a thief; same thing Joel said in chapter two. He said the ‘horses? horsemen, would go into their ‘windows?as a THIEF.

He also tied this with their destruction by fire - so it is positive proof that this is the same event.

11. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12. Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Now here in verse 12, Peter called the Day of God the very same thing as the Day of the Lord -- said it would bring the heavens being destroyed by fire. If you do not believe this many witnesses out of the word of God, you just may as well admit to yourself and others that you DO NOT BELIEVE THE WORD OF GOD.

13. Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Now, here is the explanation of the new heavens and new earth -- the THIRD HEAVEN AND THE THIRD EARTH --- He says it is the Heaven and Earth which will be after the destruction of this world we now live in -- when it is destroyed by the anointed witnesses of God who have the FIRE COMING OUT OF THEIR MOUTHS. This is the FIRE which all these prophets are speaking of --- the fire of God which will destroy this evil heaven and earth we now live in.

In this third Heaven and Earth, there will be no evil, for the wicked ones will have been destroyed off the earth in that FIRE Judgment of the Second Witness.

14. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

15. And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

16. As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Here Peter gave testimony as to His love and trust of Paul. Some people still to this day try to say that Peter and Paul were in disagreement. It is a lie of hell. See, if they can get you to believe that, then how could you trust any of the Written Word? That is the purpose of such an evil lie. Peter said the unlearned and unstable wrest ALL the scriptures, UNTO THEIR OWN DESTRUCTION.

So, see this proves that if you do not believe the TRUTH of the Scriptures, it will bring you destruction.

17. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

18. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
