1:5 Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth. ( This new wine was signifying the Holy Ghost that came on the day of Pentecost. That was new wine because it was new and different from the Old Testament law. The drinkers of this new wine had to howl, because these worms came in and began to kill out their tree.

1:6 For a nation ( this is talking about the Catholic Church that took over when the Roman empire fell which was the fourth Kingdome that Daniel spoke of that would rule the world. When they fell the Roman Catholic Church took over the ruler ship of the whole world and they ruled the whole world except America and they are gaining a foothold here because of sin.

1:6 For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion. ( The lion in the Scripture represents a conqueror, somebody that conquered other people and destroyed them, so the Romans were known as a lion. That is why it said that Jesus came back as a lion of the tribe of Judah, he comes back in wrath to destroy the wicked people which this day of the Lord is all about.

When the moon turns to blood is when the church by the power and spirit of judgment from God and stops giving out a message of grace and salvation and turns and pour out the wrath of the Lamb on the world. So that what Jesus returning as a lion means, he is going to destroy the people of Satan. He said one place that he would destroy the sinners out of the earth, that is what this is all about the day of the Lord.

1:7 He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white. ( This is talking about the Catholic Church being these four worms destroyed Jesus�?Church.)

Now let’s go down to the end of the first chapter of Joel and let’s see the conditions.

1:15 Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, ( now I hope you see that, when he comes down to the closing out of chapter 1 the conditions in the world he is speaking of up to the time he said the day of the Lord is at hand. He did not mean that Sunday was at hand, he is talking about a day when the wrath of the Lamb will be poured out upon the earth, that’s what the day of the Lord is. We will prove it in this message by many scriptures that this is what the day of the Lord is when the Lord pours out his wrath upon the wicked people upon the earth. The very next words prove it.

1:15 Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come ( See that is positive proof that the day of the Lord is a day of destruction. Now it does not mean destroying Gods�?people. That was what was happening all down through the ages with those four worms, they were destroying God’s people but at the end God turns and destroys them which is what he is talking about the destruction of mystery Babylon. The destruction of Satan’s Kingdome off of this Earth. You see right there a destruction from the Almighty, that is what the day of the Lord is.

Now look at the conditions when Jesus comes to pour out the wrath of the Lamb. Look at the conditions that the church world had got into.

1:16 Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God? ( The meat of the word had been cut off and they were not receiving the truth. That is the condition that the church world is in today. Even though there are millions upon millions they are not teaching the truth of God’s words. No church is, I know that does not sound good to anybody, but the truth of the matter is that no church today is teaching the real truth of God’s word and that Is the truth. You look at God’s words and he said himself in Revelation when he described the 7 churches, the last one which was the Laodicea which we are in right now. He said that they were wretched, naked, miserable, and blind meaning they had no light and no truth.

That is the condition that the entire church world is in right now. There is no light, oh they have a little light but it is not enough. The saints of God do not have the truth of God words and they do not major on the truth of God’s words. They major on singing. Everybody talks about singings and wanting to go to singings, they want to be entertained, they want to go to singings. It is nothing wrong with singings and praising God but that should not be our major thing. Our major thing has to be the truth of God’s word. You live by the word of God, you don’t live by singings.

Now listen to what he said - “joy and gladness is cut off from the house of our God�?they don’t have the joy and the gladness of God

1:17 The seed ( which is the word) is rotten under their clods, ( rotten because it was not the truth of God’s word) the garners ( which represents God’s storehouses) are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered. ( The corn remember he said they were the children of the kingdom. What he was saying is that the word of God had disappeared from the people, therefore they were desolate.

1:18 How do the beasts groan! ( Now he is not talking about literal cows out in the field, he is calling his people sheep and cattle. They are groaning.) the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; ( the pasture represents where they feed and what this is saying is they had no true feeding place. It is saying right there that the church world is desolate and void and empty of any truth because there is no pasture for the people of God to feed on. That is where these 4 worms, the Catholic Church had brought them down to) yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.( That is talking about God’s people right now, even though the churches are not being persecuted like that they are still desolate. Because that is a famine in the land, not a famine of bread and water but a famine of the word.

1:19 O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field.

1:20 The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, ( The waters was the word, they were dried up. The little beast were crying out, the true sheep of God, knowing something was wrong. Crying out, God help us, God help us.) and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness.
