America's "Addiction to Oil"...
...Continues in the Bush Budget

Dear Friend of Wildlife,

Despite the President's recent State of the Union message where he stated flat out that

"America is addicted to oil..."

...the federal budget - just submitted by his Administration - is rife with the same old tired "drill it all" approach. Once again, they've included an Arctic Refuge drilling proposal in the hopes that maybe this time they'll succeed.

They just won't give up!

Instead of taking steps to chart a course to a
cleaner energy future for the country, the new federal budget embraces the failed policies of the past. It caters more to the needs of profit-laden oil companies than the energy needs of our country.

What makes this latest maneuver so outrageous is that Congress decisively rejected last year's multiple attempts to force drilling into the federal budget.

The American people expect Congress and the Administration to stop wasting valuable time and energy on dead-end drilling schemes.

The Department of Energy estimates that the Arctic Refuge contains only enough oil to reduce gas prices a mere penny per gallon. Moreover, we wouldn't see a drop of oil for at least 10 years!

National Wildlife Federation is launching a major four-point Sensible Energy Plan for America to address the nation's "addiction to oil" with action, not just empty rhetoric. Here is what we propose...and why we need your help now to put this plan into effect.

We need to:
  1. Embrace clean energy solutions to meet our energy needs and keep our economy moving.
  2. Protect the special places that are so much a part of America's natural heritage, including the pristine Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
  3. Support responsible approaches to managing our offshore oil and gas resources, while protecting our coastlines, and
  4. Protect the natural world for our children's future.
Please support  NWF's Sensible Energy Plan for America and other critical wildlife protection programs.

Thank you for making a difference and giving hope to America's wildlife.

Sincerely,

Larry Schweiger,
President & CEO
National Wildlife Federation

God will destroy those who destroy the earth.
America had extinted more birds in the 20th century than all other nations in all time.  I did not make this up.  It has been proven and I read it.

When the space station was built in Fla it drove certain Sea Side Sparrows into extintion.  It totally destroyed their needed habatat.  Now those lovely birds no longer exist!  Shame on us!

Now they want to destroy a natural habatite to many birds.  There are many birds and other animals who totally depend upon that Ice north for their existance.  Many more birds will become extinct if they take that place to drill for oil.

But they do not care.  All they care about is MONEY.  The love of MONEY is the ROOT of ALL  EVIL.

It is the MARK OF THE BEAST.  No love for nature or God;  just money.

America is in enough trouble without adding this SIN AGAINST NATURE TO THEIR LIST.

Lets' all pray to God to save that wonder of ice in the north.  Lets pray that Loons will not be driven to extinction over this love for oil.

Only God can straighten out the mess this world is in.

Thanks for this article.
