Psalms 91
1. He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6. Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9. Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10. There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
Now I am proving in the Book of Psalms that Jesus is not the God the Scripture speaks of. He is God’s Son. The Heavenly Father, a Spirit, is Jesus?God. If you will study this message with an open heart and pray and ask God to reveal truth to you, you will see this clearly taught.
Verse 2--Jesus said The LORD is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Yes this is Jesus saying this about His God.
The only way you will ever know truth is to be able to discern by the Spirit who is speaking in the Word and who is being spoken to. To believe in Jesus only would block you from ever being able to see this in truth. For many times God speaks to Jesus; then another Heavenly being speaks either to God or to Jesus; then Jesus is speaking to them or to us. The beauty of all this is hidden to those who believe either lie, that God is manifest in three persons or that Jesus is God and the only one. It blinds you.
In verse one, and three - thirteen, another Heavenly being is speaking to and about Jesus. He is telling Jesus that God will deliver him from all trouble. Now I know the crucifixion makes it seem that God did not deliver him, but see that he did at the resurrection. This was a greater deliverance than if God had taken him off the cross and not let him die. Jesus would have died later anyway, for he was completely human, mortal.
Look at verse 9--this is saying that Jesus made the LORD, which is God, his refuge and his habitation.
Now for proof that this prophecy is about the Lord Jesus, go to Matt. 4: 5. Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6. And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
(Notice he was not tempting Jesus to prove he is God; he is tempting Jesus to prove he is the Son of God. Jesus being God was never in the question. He is never called anything other than the Son of God.)
Now read this with verse10-12 in Psm. 91. See the very same words, proving this prophecy was about Jesus. If it had not been about Jesus, then Jesus would have corrected this statement when Satan quoted this from Psm. 91.
Verse 13 is prophecy that Jesus will eventually completely trample Satan’s kingdom under his feet. Now does not the Word teach that Jesus will do this? Of course it does.
Verses 14-16 is God the Father speaking in prophecy about Jesus and giving him the assurance that God will deliver Jesus and set him on high, because he hath KNOWN MY NAME. This is fulfilled in Heb. 1 where God set Jesus up on high, on the right hand of God.
So it is important to know the true name of God. This name is not Jesus. This is speaking that Jesus knew God’s name.
15--He (Jesus) shall call upon me, and I will be with him in trouble and deliver him and honour him. Now are we not told in the N.T. to honour the Son even as we honour God the Father? Sure we are. This is the fulfillment of this prophecy that God would honour his Son.
V16--With long life will I satisfy him. This is God showing that He would raise Jesus from the dead, to see death no more. God gave to Jesus eternal, glorified life at his resurrection.
Now to anyone who says that this is falsely interpreted, then you take the Word and show us who the prophecy is about that God would give his angels charge over someone and keep him from dashing his foot against a stone. Where in the Scripture is this spoken of anyone other than the Lord Jesus?
