 Ephesians 6:1-4

1. Children, obey your parents in the Lord:  for this is right.

2.  Honour thy father and mother;  which is the first commandment with promist;

3.  that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

4.  And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath:  but bring them up in the numture and admonition of the Lord.

This Scripture is special to me;  for I was taught it in my childhood church.  It was drilled into us.  I always believed it.  So, therefore, I have always tried to obey it.

This is not only the formula for a good, long life;  but also the way to have a peaceful and happy home.

This is much needed by parents and children today.  In our society, we are seeing young parents deceived into thinking their children are on the same grounds as them selves.  They think it is wrong to make their children mind and honour them.  But, see by God's word that it is to their own good;  for it will bring them a good and long life.

If the parents would love and quit provoking their children to wrath, the children would be happier and the home more in peace.  This is a healthy atmosphere to be in.

Parents, make those children mind and respect you.  It is good and right.  This brings the child a good long life.  It makes the home a good place to be in while the children are growing up.

Teach them again that this is a promise from God.  This is the first commandment with promise;  so teach it to those children.

Jo

Jo,  This is  a good message.  All young parents should be aware of this.  So many parents think that if they discipline there children as they should then the kids will think they dont love them.  But this just is not true at all!!

 I agree that to discipline is to love.  I understand now since I got the love of Jesus in my soul, that my parents disciplined me out of love and to teach me from the wrong and right ways to do things and just about life.  Just as Jesus does to us.Rebecca

To each of you answering this,  I say thank you.  And your answers are so very true.  After your parents are gone, you will then understand how much you loved them and should have done everything in your power for them.  I hope those of you who still have your parents can learn from us, and do as Ekklesia said;  all that you can for them, while you can.
Jo
