~~ That is might be fulfilled ~~
I want to show you something. I have quoted here, a lot of Scripture, showing the extent to which Jesus went to make sure that everything which was written of him, would be fulfilled. And this is not all of them. He knew every single prophecy about himself, and made sure they were all fulfilled. God made sure.
Mt 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Mt 1:22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
Mt 2:14 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: Mt 2:15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
Mt 2:23 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.
Mt 4:13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:
Mt 4:14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
Mt 4:15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; Mt 4:16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up
Mt 8:16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: Mt 8:17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
Mt 12:16 And charged them that they should not make him known: Mt 12:17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
Mt 12:18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall show judgment to the Gentiles.
Mt 13:34 All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: Mt 13:35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
Mt 21:4 All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, Mt 21:5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass
Mt 26:56 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.
Mt 27:35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.
John 12:37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him: John 12:38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
John 15:25 But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.
Now let me show you something else:
Isa 9:1 Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations. Isa 9:2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
That one is in the ones above, which it said was fulfilled. He knew this in Isa 9. It was fulfilled in Mat 4: 13-15. So don’t you see, that Jesus knew Isa 9 and saw that it was fulfilled? Now watch:
Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Isa 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Now. In face of the fact that everything which was written about Jesus was fulfilled, he saw that it was fulfilled, even to the first two verses of this chapter, Do you honestly think that Jesus would not have made sure that something as important as?the government shall be upon his shoulder, would have gone UNFULFILLED? Where was it fulfilled? Where does the Word say it was fulfilled? Show me.
Hs name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Again, where is any Scripture saying that something this important was ever fulfilled? Where is it? Where was Jesus ever called the everlasting Father? Show me. Or where was he called the mighty God? Where was that fulfilled?
