Has any human being actually seen the Eternal God? Let’s see what the Word of God says about this.

John 1: 18. No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

John 5: 37. And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

John 6: 45. It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

46. Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.

1John 4: 12. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

1John 4: 20. If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

We must ‘see?God by ‘seeing? His works in His Son Jesus. This type of ‘seeing?means to understand. But as to actually seeing with the physical eye any physical form of God, that has never been done. God is a Spirit. God is NOT a man.

Jo,
sorry to resurrect this thread.  But I'm just the newbie and have been doing some catch up on the boards.

My question that I would ask is this:  Did God show himself to Moses, or at least
his back to Moses on the mountain?   Did God speak face to face with Moses in the tent of the Presence.

Hope I can have some illumination about this when related to the aforementioned statements in this thread.

Thanks heaps
Julie

Hi Julie.

You need not appologize for 'resurrecting' any thread in this group.  go all the way back to our first page,  (if you have the time and patience).  Nothing in here would not be good to bring back up for more discussion.  and I am glad you are 'exploring'.  Wish thousands more would dothe same.

Spiritual things can only be understood by spiritual things.  The Word of God is fully SPIRITUAL.
.......therefore,  the back part of God is NOT like my back.  God is a spirit.  So his back would not have the same physical diminsions.

It is spiritual.

There are times when seeking the hebrew original meanings of words is of a good help.  Most of the time, It does not help me,  but in this instance, it does help.    The 'front' or first, with God, shows the law, or OT Covenant, which God said could never give life.  It is death.

The 'back' or last, shows the NT covenant  or Grace, by which we have life.

God said, no man can see, (or understand or eat of that tree),  my FACE, (law)  and LIVE, because law is death.

So Moses could not be under the law.  He was under grace, even though he gave the law to that rebellious nation.

God spoke face to face with Moses,  but Moses saw, or lived in his back, or the NT of grace.

Life is of Grace, or the back part.  See, when Jesus said no man hath seen God at any time,  he is speaking of physical, not spiritual.  He said if we are in truth, we see God, the pure in heart shall see God.

When People claim that Jesus was God, it shows they do not understand spiritual things.  No man has looked upon God's shape, that is physical.  Jesus was physical, so looking at him was NOT seeing God.

Thanks,
Jo
