Romans 4 1. What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? 2. For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. [Here works (of the law) is called the 'flesh'. See that Abraham was not justified this way.] 3. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. [Here it is told that by faith = believing God, he was righteous.] 4. Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. [This means those who try to come in by works of the OT Law, then it is not of GRACE.] 5. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. [This says again that it is by FAITH, believing, that one is justified. His Faith is counted for righteousness. The Law is NOT OF FAITH. Therefore by keeping the law is no one justified.] 6. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, 7. Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 8. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. 9. Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. 10. How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. This blessed position of having one's sins covered comes only on those of us who put our faith in Jesus and not in our own works of law. It came to Abraham in his uncircumcision, which means before the law was even given. His was FAITH = GRACE. So those under grace, not works of the law, are the only ones who has this blessedness of having our sins covered = remitted or done away with. Thus we are the ones to whom iniquity is NOT IMPUTED. It is not on our record. Why would anyone desire to work at keeping laws instead of being in this BLESSED POSITION? I simply cannot figure that one out. Thank God for Grace by which my sins are blotted out and covered with His Blood. The only perscription given in the whole Word of God for having one's sins remitted is found in Acts 2:38. Those of you who refuse this one and only way of having your sins remitted will have to face them at your judgment. They are retained to you for you refused to come in God's chosen way of Baptism in water in the Name of His Son, Jesus Christ to have your sins remitted. Jo |
