Joh 1:32 - And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

Re 21:2 - And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

now ole john can be serious.

Was the spirit John saw in JOHN I  the same as the new Jerusalem in rev 21

John, do you believe that it is the same John in both places?  Remember that it is speaking about John the Baptist in John 1.
The John which wrote Revelation is the one speaking in Rev.

Do you believe that this is also John the Baptist?

Most people believe that John the disciple wrote Revelation.

Which do you think?

btw, that is a very good question and study.

Before I give my answer to your great question, I wish to lay a good foundation for that answer.

Re 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will show thee things which must be hereafter.

Now, please tell me, what and when was that door opened in heaven?

Jon, I will eventually answer your question.  What is your answer?  I truly wish to know.

Now, for the sake of further study into this >>>.who is this bride and who is this husband?  and how does this fit it being the very same decent?  I am sure it is and it does.  Let's discuss this in depth.  Love it!

Thunder in the Scripture is the voice of God. The trumpets is the voice of Jesus. Also both of their voices are spoken by many people or waters.

Now: Re 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will show thee things which must be hereafter.

Now I know that everyone thinks that John the disciple wrote this Book of Revelation. But that is just not taught in Scripture. I have written a message already solidly proving with the Word that John the Baptist wrote this Book.

John the Baptist is the man sent from God to bear witness of Jesus and to prepare the way for him.

John the Baptist is the one who bore record of Jesus. So this is the voice of John the Baptist saying these words. John saw that open door. So what was that open door? (Jesus said,  I AM THE DOOR.)

Mt 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

Mt 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Mr 1:9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. Mr 1:10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: Mr 1:11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

John 1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

1:34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

These verses clearly prove that when John baptized Jesus he saw the heavens opened.

yesum u iz rights aboot dat.

The apostles also saw the spirit on the day of Pentecost.

Acts 2

1And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

That is so true, John.  It is so good to have someone to discuss these deep truths!  Love it!

Yes, we must be baptized into that body, or Holy City, by the same baptism which came on the Day of Pentecost.

Jesus Christ is that Holy City.  He is the head of it.  We are the body but members of the same City.  That is, the ones who have not rejected, but received, that Baptism of the Holy Ghost, not trying to reach the City some other way.

Jesus Christ is part of this BRIDE.  So who is that husband?

That City was certainly coming down when Jesus was baptized and when the disciples received the Holy Ghost.  See, Jesus also received the Holy Ghost when he was baptized!

What a pity that the church of our day has abolished this great truth and hidden it from the eyes of almost everyone!

thanks for this study.

Yes, Larry.  This is certainly a great study.  Get into it with us.  I am so glad to Jon getting into these deep kinds of things.  Anyone who can get these kinds of deep things can go far into the Word of God.

Tweety is also getting into some deep things now.  She studies the Word a lot, as I have always done.  This is what it takes.
