Parables

Math.- 13:3 -

And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

Parables are stories from everyday life that relates and illustrates certain spiritual truths. What a parable does is reveal truth to the spiritual, while at the same time conceal it from the unbeliever.

13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

A sower went forth to sow;- A sower is nothing but one who sows or scatter seed. In other words a farmer. Farming in Jesus?days farming was something everyone knew how to do. That was something everyone knew how to do. There can be no better of an illustration of preaching the gospel than placing the seed in the ground to spring up and bear fruit.

We all know that back in those days how a farmer had to really work hard to get the ground ready so he was be able to plant his seed. How he had to clear the ground, and to plow to get the ground ready for the seed.

13:4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:

The wayside was where the seed fell into hard path which the plow had not touched, and there was no opportunity for it to sink into the earth, and was very easy for the fowls of the air to consume the seeds.

13:5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:

13:6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

Stony places down into the earth for sufficient moisture to support the plant. And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

“Forthwith?/FONT> in other words immediately. Not that they sprouted and grew any quicker or faster than the others, but they were not so long in reaching the surface. Having little root they soon withered away.

13:7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them

“Among thorns?- That is a place of the field where the thorns had not all been cleared away and had not been destroyed. They grew with the grain, crowding It and shading it and exhausted the earth and choked it.

13:8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirty fold

“Into good ground?/FONT>- In other words the rich and fertile soil. In sowing, by far the largest proportion of seed will fall into the good soil. “And hundredfold?etc. That is a 100, 60, 30, grains for each one that was sowed.

13:9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

This is a proverb expression, implying that it was every man’s duty to pay attention to what was spoken.

13:10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables

13:18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

In other words Jesus was telling them to hear the spiritual meaning. That he was not talking about a natural meaning.

Mark 4:11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:

4:12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

4:13 And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?

In the book of Mark Jesus regarded this as one of the simplest and the plainest of all his parables.

Math 13:19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

“When any one heareth the word?/FONT> - It makes no difference, if you here the word or seed by preaching, teaching, by Scripture, or by the direct Influence of the Holy Ghost, or any other means, then cometh the wicked one. That is Satan, or the devil, the accuser, the tempter, the wicked one.

He is represented by the fowls that came and picked up the seed by the wayside. The gospel is preached to men or women hardened in sin. It makes no impression, and it lies like seed in the hard path; it is easily taken away, and never suffered to take root.

13:20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

13:21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

13:22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

Jesus explain this as those who hears the gospel; who are caught up with it as something new or something pleasing, who profess themselves greatly delighted with it, and who are full of a zeal for it. Yet, they have no roots in themselves. Their hearts are not change and they have not seen the true excellence of Christ’s saving grace.

They are not really attached to the gospel and when they are tried, and persecution comes they fall as the rootless grain withers before the scorching sun rays of the new day.

“Anon?/FONT> means quickly or readily. They do not look at it as a matter of principal.

“Is offended?/FONT> that is they stumble and fall. Persecution and trials are placed in the path and he falls as he would over a stumbling block. He doesn’t have enough principal, nor confidence in God to carry him through them.

The thorns - These represent cares, anxieties, and the deceitful lures of riches which deceive. Riches allure and promise what they do not yield. They promised to make us happy, but when gained they do not do it. To The soul Is not satisfied . There is the same desire to process more wealth, and to this there is no end- but death. Every evil passion is therefore cherished by the love of gain, and it is no wonder that the word is choked.

13:23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty

“Into the good ground?/FONT> Those whose hearts are prepared by Grace to receive it honestly and giving opportunity for it to grow, in the rich and mellow soil. In a heart that submits itself to truth with the heart spread open like a broad field to rays of the morning, to the evening dews, the gospel takes deep root and has full room to grow and then and there only shows what it is.

Jesus uses this parable to help tell how the gospel will be received in this world.

They are three truths that can be learned from this parable.

#1- Conversion and fruitfulness depend on how one response to the word of God.

#2- There will be mixed reaction to the gospel by the world. Some who hear will not understand, others will believe unto salvation but will later fall away,

#3- Then there will be others who will preserve and bear fruit in varying degrees, hundredfold, sixty fold, thirty fold. The enemies of God’s word are Satan, worldly concerns, riches and pleasures.

13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

The kingdom of heaven is likened - means hear the effect of the gospel by being preached the meaning of this parable is plain. The field represents the world in which the gospel is preach. The good seed, the truths preach by Jesus and his apostles.

13:25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

“Sowed tares?/FONT> - Satan will always plant his followers, the children of the wicked one among the true believers.

“While men slept?/FONT> Means that in the night when it can be done without being seen, an enemy came in and scattered bad seed on the new ploughed ground. I don’t know whether any of you have noticed it or not but I have. I have saw a lot of this going on this board. While the true sheep of God are a sleep Satan will send his followers in here and try to destroy this seed that the true shepherds of God have planted. In the very place where the truth is preached Satan sows false doctrines in darkness while the hearts of the people are ready and open to receive it. Just when the seed is planted. He tries his best to keep the seed or word from taking root. Many are persuaded that they have been saved without obeying the plan of salvation that God has set forth.

13:38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn

There will always be tares ( workers of Satan) amongst the wheat ( true sheep of God). But we as ministers of God must always sow the seed until the harvest time.

The true believers must always be alert to individuals that Satan is planting within all parts of God’s work. They will appear to be as wheat ( true children of God) while it at the same time being tares (true children of Satan). May we recognize them. Made the Lord Bless

Isaiah,  This is a very beautiful, enlightening message.  It is food for my soul.  I enjoyed reading this so much.  And you fixed it so pretty!

Thanks for finally typing this message up and giving it to us.

Yes, there is only one way to truly distinguish between the 'tares; wolves in sheep clothing' and the true ministers or children of God ~~~  That is the ones who go  EXACTLY  by what the Word of God says,  without  ADDING,  TAKING AWAY, OR CHANGING THE WORD OF GOD.

LET THE WORD SAY WHAT IT SAYS.  THEN OBEY IT.  THAT IS THE TRUE CHILDREN OF GOD.  NO MATTER HOW IT AFFECTS OUR FLESHLY LIFE, WE STILL OBEY GOD.

The Word already told us if we
EAT
 the book,

it will be sweet in our mouths (that is while we are receiving the glory of the revelation)~~
but then it will be BITTER TO OUR BELLY ~~~ ?

When we put it into action, or obey it,  then it will be contrary to our flesh.
If people think they are going to just have everything they desire here in this life and never go transformed against the world system, never refuse to conform to this world,  but just prosper and be enjoying their pleasures,

and still make it with God, they are just being deceived.  It does NOT WORK THAT WAY.  YOU MUST DENY YOURSELF,  TAKE UP YOUR CROSS AND FOLLOW  JESUS.  HE WAS A MAN OF SORROWS AND ACQUAINTED WITH GRIEF.~~~~?  GRIEF?  Yes -- bitter to your belly!

Are you willing?

The willing and the obedient will  EAT  the  GOOD  OF THE LAND  = RECEIVE THE REVELATION OF THE WORD.
