Dear List, I was doing some research on another subject and it brought me back to Genesis. Well look what I found tonight. Genesis 3:22 (KJV)
22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: Adam and Eve had already eaten of the forbidden tree and knew good and evil. But if Adam and Eve had taken of the forbidden tree and ate the fruit of it again they would have lived forever. So we know for a fact that they did not eat of the tree twice because they died. The serpent did not tell them how many times to eat of the tree. But the serpent knew that they would be as Gods if they ate of the tree. But he did not know or lied to them about how many times to eat of the tree. He wanted Adam and Eve to die. Because if he did not want them to die, he would have said the second time you eat of the fruit of the tree you shall be complete as a God. Let me know what you think. Tweety

I think you are doing well in that you are studying. I think you would do well to study much more. Look at all of this again. It is not speaking of eating of any tree a second time. It is two DIFFERENT TREES, OR COVENANTS, or kingdoms. | And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. |
This shows it is two DIFFERENT TREES. | And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: | | But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. |
See, God commanded the man not to eat of only the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He did not say you cannot eat of the tree of life. | And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? |
See God asked if they had eaten of the tree which He had commanded him not to eat of. It is not speaking of the tree of life. That was not forbidden UNTIL AFTER HE ATE OF THE OTHER TREE. Now for the PROOF: | And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: |
See that word 'ALSO'? This word means IN ADDITION TO. So God was saying, now that the man is in disobedience we will not allow him to eat ALSO of the other tree, the tree of life, and live forever in this sinful condition. There is not one word mentioned in all of this about eating a SECOND TIME. Dear, take your time, and study it diligently. FIRST search out clearly who or what that SERPENT IS. Until you get this, you will always be in error and confusion. Do you think the dragon is a literal dragon? You must find this out. Love to ye, and thanks for this study. and do not hesitate to bring forth anything else which you find or wish discussed. I do not answer this way to put you down. Know that. What do you all think being as gods really means. God said the man is become as one of us. One of God? Is that saying he was the same as God now? One of Us? That is truly interesting and needs much study, I think. I do not think I have ever heard anyone really explain any of this. One of God? |

Dear Freeborn, I understand fully what you are saying. There were two trees. I understand that. But if they had eaten of the tree of life after they had eaten of the tree of Good & Evil they would have lived forever in their sinful state. And that was not God's plan for man. They both knew what tree that they were forbidden to eat from. It was two covenants as you said. The law is the knowledge good & Evil. Just like you said. And the tree of life is immortality. Why would they choose good and evil over a sinless immortal life with God.? Why would they believe a serpent over God himself? They knew they would die because God told them so in Gen 2:17. Adam and Eve choose death over life. They would rather have died than live a sinless life forever with God. This was all done to mess up God's plan. But Satan will never win. Have a good night. It seems to me that almost eveyone today is making that same choice. They would rather have their sin than eternal life. They believe the same old lie, that they can sin and still have eternal life. See if God did not permit them to eat of that tree of life, and live forever, in their rebellion, he is not going to permit any to day to do that either. It seems clear to me that it is either one or the other, not both. I also read that Adam was not deceived but Eve was. So she did not know that she was choosing death. Adam did know what he was doing. I think in this, the world is still deceived and do not realize what happened there. But I see it is good that you are studying this out here and trying to learn how this all happened. It is a most interesting thing to study and learn. So many aspects to all of this. Who was that serpent? Certainly something to study. I do not think for one minute that it is a literal animal. No animal spoke to Eve and took her away from God. I feel quite sure of this. Lovejoy |

Lovejoy, I certainly agree with that. That serpent is no animal. It is the SAME as Satan, devil, dragon. Now people just need to find out what THAT is. What is the dragon? what is the serpent? They are one and the same, so says God's Word. |

In reading this thread again just now, I saw something. I wish to put it here before I forget it. I will, (hopefully) go back and pick all of this up and put it into a full message which we can print out and keep. It looks to the casual reader as if all of these things happened in just a short space of time. But this is not the case. How do I know? Because of seeing the rest of Scripture, how God always works. What is that? God always gives people a TIME to repent in. He always gives them warning and then plenty of time to accept his words and obey. He said in Revelation, I gave HER (Babylon) space, or time, to repent in. She failed to use this time for repentance, and continued on in her rebellion and sins. Therefore, God gave her up. God gave them up. | For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: | | Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. | | Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, | | And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. | | Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: | | Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. |
Now there is lots of revelation in the above verses. It gives to those who can 'hear' the Spirit of God, a real understanding of what happened in Eden. Eden? Yes. They (Adam and Eve) knew God. They glorified Him not as God. See this is saying that Adam lifted himself up as God. He told Eve, we shall be as gods. Therefore they worshipped the created beings (themselves) instead of the creator. They became vain in their imaginations. = Imagining that they would be as gods. Their foolish heart was darkened. This means they left off being Spiritual and became carnal. The carnal mind, or serving God as by law, is this tree of the knowledge of good and evil. I have some revelation on all of this which I will write and put into another message. |
