I just got an email from her son Paul that she passed away earlier today. I know I will greatly miss her , she always had a kind word and a great story and wisdom to pass on.  I am very proud to say she was my friend and words cant express my sadness.

I assumed the name change was temporary anyway.  I like the memorial page idea

We also need to set up a page that has member contact info along with
next of kin contact.

Someone goes AWOL, we can reach out.

Memorial page sounds good.

Hey gang, got an email from Freyas son Paul.

My Dearest Family, Friends and Acquaintances:

We have posted a Memorial online with pictures and other information in honor of my Mom. You may access the tribute and add your own thoughts at the following web address:

http://americasmemorials.com/

You simply enter her name (Freya Bruington) and you should be delivered to her page.

All of us - especially Marcy, Bill and I - have been deeply touched by the many expressions of love and encouragement in the face of this sadness. We will be forever thankful!

Paul Hedges

In Freyas memorial, there is mention of a scholarship fund for aspiring writers.

Instead of flowers, maybe we as a group could donate to that instead.

I don't have a paypal account but I thought it might be a good idea if each of us sends in their contribution individually so everyone that contributes will have their name included.  I think you can reference The Gangsta's also in the contribution.

Just a thought but I will go with whatever the group decides

I'll go whichever way the majority wants. I think donating to the scholarship fund is a fine tribute.

The Freya G. Brown Scholarship Fund

in the early 1950s Freya herself was an aspiring writer who was awarded a scholarship upon graduation from Lyons Township High School (LaGrange, Illinois). In honor of her life’s passion and desire to encourage the dreams of others, her children have created the Freya G. Brown Scholarship Fund intended to provide financial aid to promising young writers who might otherwise be unable to pursue higher educational opportunities.

Contributions may be made to her memorial foundation at Lion & Lamb, PC, a law firm representing the Trust. (820 Greenbrier Circle, Suite 19, Chesapeake, Virginiia 23320).

I was peeking at what track was next and it is Richmond.  Always one of my favorite tracks and Freya's as well.  I will be thinking of her during the race.
