According to the Las Vegas Review Journal, Las Vegas Motor Speedway plans to increase the banking in the turns of the 1.5-mile from 12 to 21 degrees as a part of a major construction project to begin after this year's March 12 Nextel Cup race there.
The work would be done in time for a Sept. 23 NASCAR Truck Series race.
"Our company has announced it is going to make a significant capital expense investment at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but on the specifics of those projects I'm not ready to comment," speedway general manager Chris Powell said.
Track spokesman Jeff Motley said Wednesday that no other official comment beyond that would be made.
According to the newspaper story, the track plans to move pit road closer to the frontstretch grandstands and raze and rebuild the garages and other buildings in the infield.
Nextel Cup teams will test at Las Vegas Jan. 30-Feb. 1, and an formal announcement on the plans could come during that event.
