Dolly Parton Weathers Rumors

When it comes to tabloid rumors, Dolly Parton has been victim to pretty much all of them. Earlier this year, she even heard a television report that she had died! But the country icon isn't complaining about the way the press treats her.

"I think I've been lucky ... very lucky actually," Parton tells The Boot. "I've had my share of tabloid stories -- some true, some false -- and I never admit which ones are and which ones ain't, because I always say everything's based on a thread of truth. But it's usually so frayed by the time they get to the real story, you don't know what's true and what ain't. But I don't deny nor admit anything, I just let them catch me at it, and if they got a picture to prove it then I'll say, 'Yeah, what can I say?' If not, then I don't care.

"I've noticed they are kinder to me as I get older," she says. "They really wanna crucify you more when you're younger."

Or maybe there's just nothing bad to say about Mrs. Parton!

"Well, there's plenty to say, I just hope they don't know all the bad stuff," she says, laughing. "I try to hide it as much as I can!"
