Madagascar is situated on the fourth largest island in the world. Because of its isolation from the rest of the world, unique plants and animals are found on its territories. It was a French colony form 1896 till 1960.

In ancient folklore, the 14th day of the month was thought to be particularly propitious for the birth of women. The 10th and 11th were lucky days for the birth of men, and the 13th was considered propitious for marriage

Until the Twentieth Amendment was ratified in 1933, Inauguration Day was held on March 4, not January 20. Although the U.S. Constitution did not mention a specific a start date for presidential terms, our founding fathers intended for the first President to assume power on the day the Constitution went into effect, March 4, 1789.

It's an environmental skill that was likely acquired when the last Ice Age swept over the Earth, and one that millions of years later, may provide the answer to extending the window of opportunity for human organ transplants.

The wood frog's ability to turn into a froggy ice cube,
then thaw itself out, and hop away, happily ever after. For this common frog, along with a few other of the species, displays an unusual trait called freeze tolerance. That means that instead of burying into the substrate of ponds and reducing body functions to a minimum in winter, they freeze where they have burrowed, and their hearts and brains cease to function.

Rolling Stones band member Bill Wyman married a 19 year-old model Mandy Smith in 1988. At the same time Wyman's son was engaged to Mandy Smith's mother. If his son had married Smith's mother, Wyman would have been the step grandfather to his own wife.

In 1631, two London bible printers accidentally left the word "not" out of the seventh commandment, which then read, "Thou shalt commit adultery." This legendary book is now known as the "Wicked Bible."

Although a Christian bishop named Valentine was martyred on February 14 in A.D. 271, there is nothing in this legend to account for the custom of choosing a sweetheart on this day. By the early 1600s, it was a popular custom to E-card image by Sue O'Rourke send handmade valentines to your sweetheart; cards were usually sent anonymously.

Battle Creek, Michigan is referred to as the "Cereal Bowl of America." The city produces the most breakfast cereals than any other city in the world.
