Are there certain "brands" you will buy for foods or cleaning supplies?

Yup and I rarely change them.  I like what I like.  There are a few store brands that I buy and some walmart items are much better than the more expensive national brands.  Unfortunately due the unions we don't have walmart supermarkets in NY State except for upstate NY.  The walmarts on LI have maybe a total of 3 aisles (6 rows of shelves) of grocery items.

Yup like I said not much.  Has to do with the unions and walmart. Guess the meat cutter/packers union wants too much money for their employees so we will never see groceries here

Gotta have diet Dew, Absolut vodka, Bud light (in bottles), & Creamettes pasta.  Otherwise I buy what's on sale.

I'm VERY choosy when it comes to certain things...I won't buy cheap laundry detergent...my fav is Tide...and I won't buy the off-brands for most cleaning products.

But, I will try the off-brands for things like canned or frozen veggies, paper items, and some dry goods...if I like them...I'll keep using them...

I think I got my 'label snobbery' from my Mom...if you want a 'comprehensive list' of things...it'll take too long...heheheheh

Oh I never buy anything but Tide and downy.   Absolutely no way.  The long aluminum foil must be reynolds the store brands aren't worth anything.  For the small foil I will use the store.  I really like Walmarts zipped plastic bags better than any I've tried.  I hear their dishwasher detergent is the best.  I wouldn't know since I'm still washing them by hand.
