Downloading Fonts, Tubes & Filters Ok for those who want to download fonts, tubes and filters to their computer and don't know how....just follow these steps and you won't have any worries..... To begin with.....create some new folders.....naming them Fonts, Tubes & Filters ..... You'll need a programme called Winzip if you don't already have it on your pc....go here to download it......HERE Click on Download Now and it will start the download.....when asked if you want to Open or Save...click...Open and just just follow the prompts.....to install it..... FONTS This tut will teach you how to save the fonts straight into the Windows Fonts folder..... Firstly find the font you want..... www.google.com is a good place to start...just go to the site and type in fonts.....it will then give you heaps of sites to check out ....Let's get started......I've chosen this one one...... Click on Download......and this will open... Click...Open This will open up Click...I Accept or Use Evaluation Version...(Depending on what version WinZip you have) Click ...Next You should now be asked if you want the file added to your Windows Temp files.....Click...No This will now open.....Just click...Next Now you have to find the Fonts folder..... Click on the + next to C: to see all the folders.... Scroll down till you see the Windows folder Click on the + next to Windows to see the folders inside Click on Fonts to hilight it then.... Click..... OK Your unzipped file should now be listed as below. Click...Unzip Now. You can now close Winzip. Your font is now ready to use. If you are going to be collecting a lot of fonts like the rest of us then it's advisable to create a new folder to save your fonts to so you don't slow down your programmes.... To use a font from your own folder..... Right click on the Start button.....and left click on Explore... You can now search for any folders on your pc.....Find your Fonts folder in the left-hand column..... Click on the folder name.....and the contents will show on the right-hand side.... Double click on the name of the font.....and a preview of the alphabet in the font will open....just minimise this preview.....
Then when you use the Text tool in PSP...AS or Word etc....the font will show up on the list.... When you are finished with the font....just close the preview.... You can also just click on Save to just dowload the font without opening it up....you can then open it later if you are short on time....or on Dial-up.... Tubes You cannot download tubes straight to the PSP tubes folder so follow the instructions for unzipping above but put the tubes in the folder you created earlier or create one by clicking on the small yellow folder next to the Select Folder box...see pic below.....or again you can just save the unzipped tube to open later..... Once you have opened your Tube file.....open it in PSP.....Click...File....Export....Picture Tube.....and follow the prompts.....they will then show up in the Tubes folder.....but you can just use them from your original folder as a transparent image..... Filters & Plug-ins Follow the tut above ( Some just need to be saved as they aren't a zipped file).....and save the filters & plug-ins to the new folder you created earlier..... Open PSP.....Click...File....Preferences....File Locations.... Click on the Plug-in Filters heading.....then click on the centre or bottom Browse button..... This will open.....and you can search for your Filter folder.....Click on the Folder name and click ...OK The path to your folder will be listed next to the Browse button..... Close the File Locations pad.....and PSP..... Next time you open an image in PSP.....allow a little while for all the Filter folders to load.....then click ....Effects...... As you can see I have 2 Plug-in folders that show up......Hover your cursor over the little arrows to open the list of filters..... If you have any problems then please leave a message on the General Board so we can all see it. |
