Daniel Keeps Covenant in a Foreign Land
Key Verse: “But Daniel purposed in his heart he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s mean, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.?Daniel 1:8
Daniel, Mishael, Hananiah and Azariah are great role models for each of us as we live out Christian lives. They were exiled to a foreign land, trained in foreign customs and pressured to behave as the citizens of that land. As we live in this world, we realize that we are not of this world although we are trained in similar fashion as Daniel and companions.
This world offers each of us training in it’s customs of lying, stealing, gossiping, self indulgence, deception, fornication, boastfulness, manipulation, and more. Through people, internet, television and video games we are pressured to conform to how non-Christians behave; but like Daniel, we must exhibit boldness to stand up for what we believe as saints of God. Understand, it is not the technology that overwhelms us, it is how we use it for purposes other than leaning and spreading God’s standard. We cannot accept the pressure of this world. Romans 12.2 admonishes that we not follow the patterns of this world but have our minds changed in order to exhibit Daniel’s boldness we must know God is faithful and he keeps His promises. There may be times in our lives where the pressures may seem overwhelming but we must remember that we serve and overwhelming God of power, love, grace, mercy, peach, joy, provision and hope.
Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent,
and be baptized every one of you in
the name of Jesus Christ for the
remission of sins, and ye shall receive
the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Have a blessed day and week.
