Jesus Was Your Substitute Jesus Christ took your place. He was your representative. All the punishment you deserved because of your sin -- He suffered.
Someone had to pay the penalty for divine justice to be satisfied. Jesus paid it for you, so you could go free if you accept Him as your Lord and Saviour.
ROMANS 5:8 NKJ
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
But you gain no benefit from what Jesus did if you are not legally united with Him. That is why it is of utmost importance for you to receive Him and openly acknowledge Him as your Lord.
Something similar happens in marriage. The history of the family you marry into becomes yours. If some ancestor made a fortune, you will enjoy its benefits, even though you did not earn it, because you are now in the family of your spouse.
So it is with you and Jesus. When you receive Jesus as your Lord, you are legally united with Him. His history becomes your history. So you get credit for what He did!
Because Jesus already paid the price demanded by justice for your sins, you are declared innocent and righteous before God, the supreme Judge, when you are united with Christ Jesus.
When you understand this, you understand why there is no other salvation for mankind outside of Jesus Christ.
As you will see from the following Scriptures, the New Testament clearly teaches the substitution of Jesus for you, and your identification with Him. This is the truth as God sees it.
The supreme records of this universe declare you free and innocent because Jesus took your place and paid the penalty justice demands for your sins.
The following statements are from the official documents of the supreme court of the universe. Whether you understand or agree, they are the official truth, for all who are united with Jesus Christ.
Jesus Took Your Place
ISAIAH 53:5 NKJ
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.

GALATIANS 6:14 NKJ
14 But God forbid that I should glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
ROMANS 6:6 NKJ
6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.
You Died With Christ ROMANS 6:8 NKJ
8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,
COLOSSIANS 2:20 NKJ
20 Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations--
COLOSSIANS 3:3 NKJ
3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
ROMANS 6:5,10,11 NKJ
5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,
10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.
11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
2 CORINTHIANS 5:14 NKJ
14 For the love of Christ constrains us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died;

EPHESIANS 1:22-23 NKJ
22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,
23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
You Were Raised With Christ
EPHESIANS 2:6 NKJ
6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
COLOSSIANS 3:1 NKJ
1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.
You Are Seated With Christ EPHESIANS 2:6 NKJ
6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
ROMANS 5:17 NKJ
17 For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)
You Inherited With Christ
ROMANS 8:17 NKJ
17 and if children, then heirs -- heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
HEBREWS 1:2 NKJ
2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;
2 CORINTHIANS 1:20 NKJ

1 JOHN 5:20 NKJ
20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
You Are Part Of Christ's Body
COLOSSIANS 1:18 NKJ
18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.
EPHESIANS 1:22-23 NKJ
22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,
23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
1 CORINTHIANS 12:12,27 NKJ
12 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.
27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.
1 CORINTHIANS 6:15,17 NKJ
15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not!
17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
ROMANS 12:5 NKJ
5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.
