My older three children have been blessed with,  from substantial to severe learning disabilities, add/adhd, and other problems, two including bipolar.  They did get good grades and they worked very hard.  One got a scholarship.

My dd is 15, and she's made the "Honour Roll".  She goes to a very challenging Academy, and I'm so excited, beyond excited.

For all the years that I was told I was a "poor mother", for not reading to my children, and not helping them.  The teachers were so judgemental and harsh.  They just blamed me. I was always fighting to have them evaluated, and fighting to get help.

This was the first of my younger three who just read, because the entire house was labelled.  I had a few rough years, and I'm celebrating.  Sure I still check every day that she's done her homework, and such.  It's just been such a different experience.

We're having a party for her on Saturday.

Oh, Crystal, That is wonderful and encouraging. Not sure if you knew, but I have also spent years fighting to get my son tested. I was told he was lazy by many My son is adhd, ocd and has mild Tourettes. It has been a long hard road.

Zach is in 9th grade and so far, so good. Last year, I quit backing teachers and demanded testing letting them know I was aware of my rights. He was tested. His IQ is in 130's but he struggles in school. He  can test verbally much better. He can tell me all about wars and loves to talk politics and civic and like me, reads the newspapers but hates books.
Our long term goal is to get Zach a basic no endorsements type diplomna called here a "work diplomna" meaning he went 12 years to school and passed, although may be by d's in subjects with teachers not cooperating. It is hard still to enforce the agreement we entered into. They are not to even scream at my son because if someone screams at him, he will scream back. It isn't bad manners, it is a reaction he can't control per neurosurgeon who diagnosed the tourettes.

Congrats to YOU Crystal because I know and soon everyone around you will learn that you did have their best interest in mind in every decision you made and you ARE a good mother. You MUST be a good mother because I know how hard it is with one much less multiples with disabilities. Kudo's and oh yeah, Happy Samhain to you.
