| | | It's nice to be able to congratulate a family member here. Sass has worked extraordinary hard over the last few years to get her BA as an adult and now she's working on her Masters while working full-time. Through all this she still is able to find time to volunteer for the Blue Star Mothers organization, who offers tremendous support to the troops. As a result of her do-gooder stuff, she's been recognized as a Kentucky Colonel... a prestigious honor given to those who have demonstrated outstanding community service or made significant contribution to the state. Cool stuff, Sass. Congrats!! | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

Oh.. I should have noted that only six recipients were awarded. I'm really proud of her not only for this but for everything she's had to manage for at least the last three years, much less the previous twelve years. You guys just have no idea what all she's been through. I'm really happy to see her recognized like this. |

I will for now on refer to you as Col. Sass. Excellent job mam! It pleases me that in these ranks of privates and genitals we have an honest to god real citizen. Is it you whom is the root of afrass? I think so! You put it there! Do you get oak leaf clusters or what? Is there a League of Kentucky Colonel's? Do you have to wear white now? Can you even cook crispy chicken?Do you now get invited to prestigious events and ribbon cutting ceramonies? It truly is facinating and may I tell my friends that one of my confidants is now a Col. ? Please advise. |

OMG too freakin funny!!!!! Here's what it really is about: A Kentucky Colonel is an individual who has been fortunate in his or her life to make a contribution to society. The contribution may have been something as simple as devising a recipe for better chicken as did Colonel Harland Sanders... or, the contribution may have been directing troops in battle, as did Kentucky Colonel and General of the Army Omar Bradley. More likely though, the accomplishment had direct meaning to our everyday lives. For example being an outstanding teacher of 2nd graders ... or, keeping the neighborhood safe through exemplary involvement in a block watch program. Thousands of such individuals have been honored over the years by being commissioned a Kentucky Colonel.
This recognition by the Commonwealth of Kentucky not only signifies achievement... it also affords new opportunities to serve. The dedication of Kentucky Colonels to furthering the accomplishments in life of those who are in need of help - spiritually, mentally and physically -- is as legendary as the title of Kentucky Colonel itself.
