BiographyAs with many of the other English beat groups of the '60s, Alvin Lee cut his musical teeth in Hamburg, Germany in a band called the Jaybirds. By 1966, back in England, he had changed the name of his band to Ten Years After and was rapidly becoming a major attraction because of the virtuosity of his solo work. Most Americans first became familiar with Alvin Lee through his appearance at Woodstock, although he remained active throughout the decades which followed; among his releases were 1974's In Flight, 1986's Detroit Diesel and 1996's Live in Vienna. ~ All Music Guide, All Music Guide |

I'd love to change the world But I don't know what to do So I'll leave it up to you
Population keeps on breeding Nation bleeding, still more feeding economy Life is funny, skies are sunny Bees make honey, who needs money, No more for me
I'd love to change the world But I don't know what to do So I'll leave it up to you

World pollution, there's no solution Institution, electrocution Just black and white, rich or poor Senators stop the war
I'd love to change the world But I don't know what to do So I'll leave it up to you |

This Great song has served a political role in the past and it is about to do it again. My guess is that someone will soon do a remake if they haven't already.
Should be Mr. O's Anthem.....Especially the line "So I leave it up to you"....... |

| One of my first concerts. Alvin lee was the opening act for (I think) ZZ Top. My recollection is vague, but I remember thundering guitars, and it seemed oh so loud.... |

I'm almost embarrassed to admit that before I came to old CR chat, I didn't know who Alvin Lee was. (Robbin cringes). Anyway, there was one of the old CR regulars, can't remember his nickname or even his real first name, but I know he lived in the Kansas City area. He had shared a couple Alvin Lee tunes with me, and I loved them. The one that comes to mind is The Bluest Blues. I have it on my iPod, and it's just one of those songs that can make you feel so many things. It's sad, it's seductive, it's just one of those songs that makes you feel SOMETHING... so many songs nowadays don't, and I think when you find something that really moves you, that's the mark of a great song.I guess it depends on your state of mind when you listen. I guess the same could be said for most his stuff. I don't know a lot of his solo stuff, but loved Ten Years After |

Don't you just hate it when you can't remember something? Well, it bugs me until I finally do. The guy's nick was something with Thunder in it, and it was the guy Porch was all crazy about. Fluff, you remember him? Anyway, that's it. Now I'll be able to sleep tonight lol |
