WOW! This morning, I was sound a sleep and then woken by a rolling rumble shaking. It seemed like it would never end. I was just about ready to bold out of my bed, when it rolled away. I looked at my clock, it was 4:22 am. The window took a while to stop shaking. Ziggy was freaked. I have been up here for 13 years and this is my 3rd earthquake up here. When I lived in San Jose/Gilroy, we had at least 10 per year. It was a 4.5 centered in Quincy. 4.5 quake rattles Quincy in NorCal Friday, December 26, 2008 | 8:46 AM QUINCY, CA -- A magnitude-4.5 earthquake shook parts of northern California early Friday morning, but there were no reports of property damage or injury. The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake was centered two miles northeast of the town of East Quincy, about 102 miles northeast of Sacramento. The quake struck at about 4:19 a.m. A dispatcher at the nearby Quincy police station said the quake was felt, but the station had received no distress calls or damage reports. ~ The morning before (on Christmas Morning) I was woken up to lightning that woke me out of bed that sounded like it struck my back yard. |

| THE STAR IS WHERE QUINCY IS AND WHERE THE EARTHQUAKE WAS CENTERED. IF YOU LOOK SOUTH WEST YOU WILL SEE PARADISE. THAT IS WHERE I LIVE. IT TOOK 3 MINUTES FOR IT TO REACH ME FROM QUINCY. |

Okay, this is one reason I'd never want to live in California again! Seriously, Robbin. Here in the midwest, it's mostly tornadoes, but you KNOW when weather is favorable for tornadic activity. In the southeast, they can predict hurricanes days or sometimes weeks ahead of time. Your wake-up call this morning is something I just couldn't deal with on a daily basis, yet millions of people there do! Earthquakes are way to spontaneous for me! When I was little, our town sat right on the San Andreas fault. If you've lived in California for a long time, you know that back in the 60's people were saying there would be a big quake, and California would drop off into the ocean. That's scary shit for a 9 year old to absorb!---of course, it never happened lol. Anyway, what a way to wake up! Glad your okay! OMG..you lived in Gilroy? Garlic capital of the world? That's funny--great memories. |

| I would much rather live in the quake zone rather than tornadoville. It is terrifying to me when the sirens are wailing in the dark and you can't see whats going on. |
