Minnesota has certified Al Franken as winner of the Senate seat held by Norm Coleman (R). Coleman has grumbled something about a lawsuit (sour grapes), but for now, it looks like we have a comedian in the Senate.
I'm not a huge fan of Franken's. I liked a couple of his books, and I thought one of them ("Why Not Me?") stunk to high heaven. I thought he was funny on SNL, but not so much on his Air America radio show, The Franken Factor. I do know he is a passionate individual who should be a force for ending the wars, and who can argue with that?
The Minnesota recount was a model for the entire nation on how recounts should be conducted. Florida should take note.

Yes, crybaby Norm Coleman, the guy George Galloway made into a laughing stock at the Oil for Food hearings, is gonna challenge the results. It could wind up preventing Minnesota from seating their new junior Senator for months.
Apparently, Minnesota doesn't mind politicians who are laughing stocks, see Michelle Bachmann or Jesse Ventura. At least with Al Franken, they'll get one who is in on the joke. |

Franken is a total joke. The recount phase was won by Coleman on election day,but Franken wouldnt concede.Instead he raised millions of dollars from liberals in NY and Hollywood to fight a "legal" battle to undo the will of the voters. He even got the Minnesota Supreme Court to order canvassing boards to consider about 1600 previously rejected and questionable ballots. He is nothing more than a big fat joke,he doesnt even belong on radio or TV, I say send him back to some comedy club! |

What is it you don't like about Franken? Could it be the book he wrote, painstakingly footnoted, that exposed the lies of Hannity, O'Reilly, and the rest of those lying liars?
Are you suggesting that the recount, conducted under the administration of a Republican governor, was somehow dishonest?
Also, the money raised by Franken didn't just come from NY and Hollywood. People everywhere donated to his cause. Daily Kos was instrumental in raising money for Al. Would it make you feel better if his money came from the corporate world, where Norm Coleman got his? |

| My parents were laughing at Minnesota for electing Al Franken. I quickly shut them both up by reminding them that they both cast their ballots for Arnold Schwarzenegger. |
