ANCHORAGE, Alaska ?The 18-year-old daughter of former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has given birth in Alaska to a son. People magazine reports that Bristol Palin gave birth to Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston on Sunday. He weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces. Relative Colleen Jones tells the magazine the baby is fine and Bristol is "doing well." Jones is the sister of Bristol's grandmother. The father is Levi Johnston, a former hockey player at Alaska's Wasilla High School. He has said he and Bristol plan to marry. Palin created a stir in September by announcing the pregnancy as she prepared to accept her nomination at the Republican National Convention. The governor's office called the birth a private family matter. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081230/ap_on_re_us/bristol_palin_baby hmmmm....is his first name in honor of his grandmother who was just busted for trafficking oxycontin?? |

"Oh brother. Maybe I should apologize now to someone who'll never know what I said, wont care, and wont see the apology.' why would I want an apology? you didn't offend me, I just disagreed with something. I thought that's what people did on a forum, debate or just bs and state opinions/disagree/agree.... I didn't care for one little part of something and I spoke up--- big freakin deal you do it all the time. So does everyone else. No reason to make a little dig about me 'not seeing it' as I assume you say this because I come here sporadically sometimes. And the 'I won't care' part? I might not get here to chat/argue daily or wtf, but I still care. sheesh. I would just not even respond to this bc this isn't really a big deal or a reason to pick at one another but....I guess I felt the need to repond bc I wasn't aware that my presence here was considered so ...absent. I'vehad to come and go a lot, but many do. I can't figure out if I'm taking things to personally or if you're being kind of an ass. how's that for being confised. If I'm being an ass, well I'm sorry in advance. |

Obviously, I thought you were talking about his votes in the U.S. Senate, since that's the page I linked to. So I was going by having not found a single "present" vote in his entire record.
Now that I've looked into it more, I see that he cast "present" votes while in the Illinois Senate. Apparently, this is what is done for the purpose of voting a "soft no;" for instance, as a way to state you're not entirely against a certain piece of legislation but feel there are maybe problems with a part or parts of the final bill. Obama's not the only person to have EVER done this, so criticizing him for it is rather silly. Yes, REPUBLICANS HAVE DONE IT TOO!!
The way you brought it up was in the way that you always post lately when it comes to politics -- tossing it out there like it's some sort of MAJOR FLAW in his character or as though he was doing something horribly wrong, and it's PROOF POSITIVE he isn't fit to be president.
If it was something that was brought up by the people he was running against for the Democratic nomination, I'm going to lean towards thinking they just thought it sounded good, that if they could cause people who don't know any better to think it's something horrible, why not? Fortunately, enough people know the difference between something they should consider an issue, and a campaign smear.
I guess 129 "present" votes sounds like an awful lot to you, but not really when you consider that while serving in the state senate, Obama voted on roughly 4,000 pieces of legislation. So those "present" votes account for less than 3% of his entire voting record. Big whoop.
And when I commented on you saying he didn't know what a community organizer was, I had just skimmed your post and thought you were stating that he was saying that in the present tense. I found the video of him saying a lot of people don't know what a community organizer is, even he didn't really know, entirely, before he became one. I'm sure it's just because it wasn't the official job description, but then he goes on to talk about what inspired him to get into working with the community (the civil rights movement.) Why is that something negative, to you?
And when I brought up you slamming liberals, I just meant that it seems that every single post I've read from you, lately, on anything to do with politics, that's all it is. But you're right. I "better check myself." As a matter of fact, I'll get on that right now.

| Tripp is not short for anything. Tripp is a style of jeans... the black with studs and chains the goths and punks wear. I think they named him Tripp in the tradition of his father being named Levi. |

I'll always remember when Rush Limbaugh called Chelsea as ugly as a dog. That really pissed me off. Nobody should give their opinion, especially in the public, on the name or looks of someone else's child. Maybe the drug user Limbaugh thinks of himself as cute as a button. What a stupd a-hole he is. |

Carrie.. here's where I give Char a ton of credit and you.. not so much. She read what you wrote and responded with a set of facts that contradicted your statements. You pointed out to her that she misunderstood your post, and you rightly corrected her. Here's the difference.... She went and found the correct information, and acknowledged her error... in other words, she did the research to understand what you were saying and why and conceded that she was wrong in understanding your intitial post. The point is, she DID make an effort to learn and gather the correct information about your take on things. Did you ever click the links I sent to you and the infrastructure damage in Iraq? |

Just to make it clear were NOT picking on Sarah Palin's kid's names. Former Cosby star Lisa Bonet and her husband Jason Momoa welcomed their second baby, Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa, her rep confirms to Usmagazine.com.
Um....I think its a boy. |

Freddy, if you HAD read the whole thread, you would have found that not all 63 posts are pertaining to names... several entries on this thread have contained substantive debate and conversation, so please don't criticize a whole thread when you haven't bothered to read it. You're also aware that sometimes its just fun to post for the sake of posting.. slow news weeks lend to this kind of garble. Yes, Sass... we WERE picking on the names... , mostly because its great fun to make fun of Sarah Palin, admittedly. I think Kris' post #9 sums it all best, and explains the reason why this thread even exists in the first place. If I'm REALLY honest... I kinda like the names Palin picked... not so keen on Tripp though. OH... and if I had another boy, I wouldn't hesitate to name him Soda or Chance. That wasn't a fair shot, Freddy considering Mom and Kelly haven't participated on this thread at all. |

Cool enough, Freddy!! I understand. LOL, its almost become sport to pick on Palin!! I'm positive, nobody in here... A) really gives a damn what she or her kids name their kids, and.... B) means any ill will to those children whatsoever. |
