It's a dog movie, but you don't have to be a dog lover to watch.
My mom loved it, and she isn't partial to pets in general.

I've heard wonderful reviews.... but I can't take a dog movie where the dog dies in the end.  No way.

It's based on a true story, of course the dog dies in the end. It's funnier than it is sad anyways. It's a shame to not watch a good movie simply because you're worried about being sad
