Its truly the end of an era.  MSN did a great service to introduce so many people we otherwise never would have crossed paths with... and now they go and rip the rug out from underneath us all...lol!  Some of the best times I can remember were actually spent in that old Classic Rock chat room, getting to know so many people from all walks of life and from different corners of the world.

Somehow, a bunch of those people from that chat room landed here, in this group Classic Rock Sidebar, and became some of the best friends I've ever had.  Others, found us later by searching for groups and became every bit as dear to me as those from the chat room.  I'm sure that goes for a lot of you.  We had a great run here.

So its with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to MSN.  I know not everybody from this group is going to move with us to Aimoo so its the end of the road for some.

I want to thank you so so much... to each and every one of you who have taken the time to write a response, post a picture, or just stopped in to read the boards.  It seems impossible that after six years, Sidebar as we have always known it will cease to exist.  For me, Sidebar has been a labor of love and its really hard to have to say goodbye.  Without your contributions, it would have been nothing, a waste of time.  Thank you for making it great.

The good news is, we have a place we can still meet -- a fresh new opportunity to meet new people and reacquaint ourselves with the lighthearted fun we had in the early days of Sidebar.  So yeah, I guess its time for a change.

On that note, I can only say thank you again... for being part of this group and a huge part of my life.

Love,

Carole

No need, Paul... I've enjoyed every minute.

The cool thing about moving to Aimoo is that, as I said in my previous post, we have a chance to take a lot of the bad elements out of this Sidebar and start fresh.  In the past year or two, the board has been so tense with drama and political spats and stuff that just doesn't make a group appealing to everyone and downright tedious for others.

So my goal with our new Sidebar is to keep it lively, keep it fun, keep it fresh and interesting.  I want to restore the personal aspect of Sidebar and the cammaraderie so many of us enjoyed. I think certain boards should absolutely be used for specific topics of discussion.  Things started really going to hell in a handbasket here when the General Board was overtaken by politics.  I hope to keep that separate in Aimoo, on the Current Events Board... and other threads that were of no interest to a lot of people such as the American Idol thread need to be kept in their category as well.  I tried not to overwhelm Aimoo with a bunch of boards that require a lot of clicking so it shouldn't be too hard to keep up with everything.  I want the General Board to be a place where everyone can feel comfortable and welcome.

I just ask for everyone's patience once again, while I get the fine tuning down and the curtains hung and the walls painted...there's still lots to do over there.  We're ALL going to have a little difficulty in adjusting to a new forum, but I'm pretty confident that we'll make it work.  I'll take any suggestions anyone has to offer, too.

This is so hard. The timing of this is absolutely awful, at least in my case. I keep coming here to have some connection to the past, and now that door is closing too. I owe so much of my life to Classic rock chat and its members, and so many days and nights of laughter and friendship are part of me and always will be..it is really a hard thing to explain to people who have not been part of it, but it really made an impact on my life.
Thank you for everything you have done, Fluf. I will be migrating with the rest of you, and plan to stay connected from here on out.

When one door closes, another one opens.  Come over to Aimoo.  We'll make it great again.  Even better.

Don't think of this as goodbye...just think of it as just switching neighborhoods. It's MSN's loss  they are closing down our site and also losing a bunch of good people. We are what we make it my friends... come on over to Aimoo if you have not already and if you desire to continue this special fellowship we all share.

Aww AMadImmortalMan,

Why aren't you coming?  You're a lot better off than I am.  I just feel like a nervous wreck, but at least I joined.  If I can do it, so can you.  It would probably be more simple for you to join.  Don't leave yourself behind, someone might miss you.

Oh heck I just looked at the clock and like always this week, I'm late for bed.  Since I gotta get up at 3:00 in the morning, I'd better get some shut-eye.

I sure hope I see you in Aimoo AMadImmortalMan.

I don't want to say goodbye to anyone so I'll just say goodnight.

Jack... there you have it.  I think Lodi summed it up better than any of us.

And Linda, please stop discrediting yourself.  You made a great leap of faith entrusting us and I'm so happy to have you in Aimoo.

This reminds me so much of when Excite closed its doors. I'd been in a group similar to this one for about 3 years and we even had get-togethers every year in different parts of the country. I went to two of them. We were a trivia chat group and although a few of us kept in touch--shit I've married and divorced one--there are so many people I miss and know I will never talk to again. From there I found MSN and eventually you guys. And here we go again. Some of the other MSN groups I've been a member of are moving to different forums and I don't think  I'll be following them. I'd rather have one place to go to and if I have to choose...I choose Sidebar.

Yaaaayyyyyyyy Alle!!     Come on over and join Aimoo.  You still haven't actually joined the group yet though I know you've posted.  I'm going to be privatizing the group very soon so its easier to get in now when there's not an application process.

I'll always remember the chat room.  So many of the people from there joined this group, some stayed.  I sure don't mind saying "Hello" to every single person I know and I hope they remember me.  The chat room and Sidebar were great places to be.  Aimoo isn't that bad at all and I really hope we have just as much fun in there, that we did here too.  Thanks for being there Fluffy and bringing people together.

Carole, Julie and Kelly,

A huge thank you to the three of you for bringing so much joy to so many lives.  We are just this big group of loving, fighting, making up, sisters, brothers, etc and I am so proud to be a part of this dysfunctional family.  Although I am sad to say goodbye, I also know that there will more good times to come.  Maybe even better!  So this is not a goodbye but a hello....I'll see you at the end of the rainbow.....also known as AIMOO.

With much love and respect,

I can't express the loss that I am feeling over this. Saying goodbye forever to the place that has been a home away from home for so many years is just sad beyond words. So many deep, lasting bonds of love & friendship were created because of the initial chat room. So much carried over from that into creating Sidebar & keeping it going for so long. It is sad to know that those who floated away for a bit, will never get to come home again. Maybe we should do a Multiply site with the new Aimoo addy or something? I dunno, I feel like there has to be something we can do so that the straglers aren't lost forever to the vast emptiness of the net.
It was a pleasure getting to know all of you. I hope that we all can continue on another level in the new forum.

It is the end of an Era and a thank you for so much work done by you ladies.  I recalls my devastation when I knew NZ was unable to subscribe to chat any longer and the efforts made by you in particular at that time Fluffers, to put something together and now MSN does it again!
I have signed up for the new programme, finding time to learn it will be all that lets me down, chat or the internet is something I use infrequently these days.  Man Once upon I time to think I'd go a week without checking my email ...well!  Mind you I had a lot more chat friends those days, but then I chatted enough to be kept busy when I was online.
Classic Rock was fabulous, an amazing and diverse bunch of people, entertaining, funny and maddening at times.  I love it.
I hope I can find my way around the programme without too much frustration and be able to keep abreast of what everyones up to, even if I dont get into chat.
Take care all
Kerry
