I thought I would post my most versatile recipe. My mother taught me this recipe and she got it form her sister were it originated I have no clue but its great for buns, bread, cinnamon rolls, pizza dough and well just about anything.
Basic Sweet Dough
½ cup shortening 1 tsp salt ½ cup sugar ¾ cup boiling water 1 cup milk 2 Pkg yeast 2 eggs beaten 6 cups flour
Put shortening, salt and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add boiling water, stir until shortening is melted and mixture is smooth. Soften yeast in liquid. Add to batter. Mix in milk and eggs stir until well- combined. Add flour one cup at a time until dough can be handled. Turn dough out on a floured work surface and knead for 2 �? minutes. (The more you knead the smoother the bread texture). Place bread in a clean bowl and spray lightly with oil. Let raise 1 hour prepare dough into desired bread shape.
