  SPICY SWEET POTATO BREAD
  
 2 cups sifted flour
  3/4 cup sugar
 1 tbsp. baking powder
 1 tsp. salt
 1/4 tsp. mace
 1/2 cup chopped pecans
 2 beaten eggs
 3tbsp. melted butter
 1 cup mashed cooked sweet potatoes
 1/2 cup milk
 pecan halves
  
 Sift flour, sugar,  baking powder, salt, and mace together.
  
 Stir in pecans.
  
 Blend the following ingredients:  Eggs, butter, sweet potatoes and milk, then add all at once to the flour mixture, stirring until blended.
  
 Turn into greased 4 1/2" x 8 1/2" loaf pan.
  
 Press pecan halves over top of batter to form design.
  
 Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until tester in center comes out clean.
  
 Cool in pan on rack 10 minutes before removing from pan.
  
 Or, bake in 3 tins, 4 1/2" x 3" across, and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
