Country Brunch
16 slices firm white bread
1 3/4-2 lbs cubed ham or crumbled browned sausage, drained
1 lb shredded cheddar cheese
1 lb shredded mozzarella cheese
8 eggs, beaten
3 1/2 cups milk
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp seasoning salt
1 tbsp parsley
Topping;
3 cups cornflakes, uncrushed
1/2 cup butter, melted
Trim crusts from bread & cut slices in half. Grease a 10x15-inch baking dish.
Layer ingredients in this order, cover bottom of pan with half of the bread, top with half the ham or sausage, then half of the cheddar cheese, & then half of the mozzarella cheese.
Repeat layers once more.
In a large mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, dry mustard, onion powder, seasoning salt & parsley. Mix well, & pour over layers.
Cover & refridgerate overnight or 8 hours at least.
Remove from fridge 30 minutes before baking.
Combine cornflakes & butter, & sprinkle over casserole.
Cover loosely with foil to prevent over browning. Bake at 375~f. for 45 minutes.
Remove from oven & let stand 1-15 minutes before cutting into squares.
Makes 12-15 servings.
