Ground Beef Roll
You can add ingredients or spices to suit your own taste.
1 pound mince (lean ground beef ) 1/2 cup chopped celery 1 tomato chopped 1 packet of Au Jus gravy mix About 21/2cups water Salt and pepper to taste 1 small tin sliced mushrooms, drained 2 Tablespoons chopped green pepper 1 medium onion, chopped 1 small tin of sliced carrots
Braise the meat in a little water until cooked through ,not brown and drain.(rinse with water if on a low fat diet) Add all the ingredients to the meat but the flour and gravy mix and simmer until cooked to tenderness. Stir in the flour and gravy mix to thickness desired (it has to hold together to be rolled in dough) Let cool.
Use your favourite biscuit dough (Bisquick) Roll out to 1/.4 inch thick to the length desired . Spread the mixture over the dough folding in the ends as you roll it up, dampen edge to hold it in place.
Place the roll on a baking sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes or until lightly brown.
Serve with mashed potatoes or rice with your favourite brown gravy or for lighter meal serve with a mixed salad.
This freezes well when cooked to put away for a later time.
