SOUR CREAM TARTS
1 cup sugar 1 1/2 tbsp corn starch 1/4 tsp nutmeg 1/4 tsp cloves few grains salt 1 1/2 cups sour cream, scalded 1 cup chopped nuts 2 baked pastry shells 3 egg whites, stiffly beaten 9 tbsp powdered sugar
Combine sugar, corn starch, nutmeg, and cloves, and salt. Add to sour cream and mix thoroughly. Cook over hot water, stirring constantly, until thick and smooth. Cool.
Add nuts. Pour into baked individual pastry shells.
Fold powdered sugar into egg whites. Pile lightly on top of pastry.
Bake in slow oven (325 F) 20 minutes.
