Arvada Check List: The house is clean ~ Kim came on Friday. Check Repainted and new carpet installed Enough groceries in to get us started Check Sharon's bedroom ~ The Welcome Committee really isn't in there getting cat hair all over her bed ~ they would be, but the door is closed so they can't get in. If Sharon wants to invite them in when she gets here, she can. They are normally banned from the guest room. This definitely isn't a Four Diamond Hotel, but the management is big on privacy. Once the door is closed, Management will only enter with an invitation. What goes on in the guest room, stays in the guest room ...... assuming, of course, that the noise level is kept down Sharon's Bathroom ~ What am I forgetting? |

That makes it almost perfect! Almost, only cuz the whole group isn't here. Sharon had promised her kids some tee's from the Hard Rock Cafe, and since Denver is kind of on our way home frm the airport, we decided on dinner there last night. For Mike, chicken and beef fajitas, and for Sharon and me French dip. Yummy! Once we got home and let Sharon put her things in her room, we had cheesecake (from the Cheesecake Factory) and coffee, followed by lots and lots of conversation. Once again, I woke up at 4 AM. This is getting really OLD ~ and so am I! grrrr. Breakfast this morning was just a quick and simple one in the kitchen ~ coffee and apple strudel, cuz we must be on our way. Hint: |

I should never have given them a hint. We arrived in Vail, and look at what we found! This time they brought Shiela and Bud along. |

Sharon found a way to prevent them from appearing in our pictures. She made videos of them! Of course we had to have a Rabbit Ears picture for the group. Click the picture above and see day 1 and day 2 of our fun!! Dorothy & @>~~`~~~~ |

Sharon's Day 3 post, and another Video. ~ "Just a quick note to say that day 3 was even MORE fab than day 2, and day 2 was wonderful!!! :) We'lll share pics later, it was a full day and we were tired so there was no pic fixing or video making last night. Another video or maybe two from yesterday's pics will be put up in time though. Here is ONE pic to give you a hint about what we did. And we WERE this close to the elk! AMAZING! What a great time we are having. Today there is some snow so we'll see how that may change plans, but everything we are doing is even more fun and special because I am sharing it with Dorothy and Mike. They are very special people! Everyone have a GREAT day! @>~~`~~~" |

Post from Saturday, October 28th "We're home from taking Sharon to the airport. She must be 'in the air' as we speak. What a wonderful week! It's hard to imagine that we had never met before, and only talked on the telephone once before she got here. From the moment we arrived at the airport and I shouted "There's my Sharon!" until we said goodbye at the airport for her flight home, we didn't stop talking ~ except to eat or sleep. lol. It's hard to believe the week is over. The sad news is that today is absolutely beautiful. It was overcast, or (as you know) snowing while Sharon was here, and now that she is leaving the sun is shining and the mountains are sparkling. I remember that from my childhood ~ when I would visit my Grandma, Aunt and Uncle here, it was always so lovely on the day I left for Minnesota that I almost cried leaving. Ah well. Even with the imperfections. I think we all enjoyed our time together a whole bunch. Sharon is a delight. I wish I could tell you ~ really tell you ~ about the Lion King last night. It's been here twice and the reviews have been 'rave', so I expected it to be wonderful, but I just wasn't prepared for HOW wonderful it was. We sat in the second row, center, and from time to time 'birds' flew over our heads or long necked creatures reached from the stage and almost touched us. Cast members and fantastic animals came down the aisles on either side of us or performed from the balconies. You've all heard the music, so you know it is beautiful ~ but the costumes, sets and puppets are beyond description, or at least beyond my ability to describe. I know I just sat there with my mouth open and a wide child-like smile on my face for at least half the performance. Awesome. Enchanting. Sharon, thank you again and again! A few last pictures, and then Sharon was on her way." My bags are packed, I'm ready to go. Saying goodbye to Miss Chrystie. Time to say goodbye ~ for a while. |

Estes Park ~ Mike was trying hard to redeem himself for my Elk Butt picture by stopping often for us to take pics. He got quite a few points back, but that really would have been a once in a lifetime shot. He still has a ways to go. lol After all these years, this is the first one we've ever had of Mike and me at The Estes Park Sign. |

We usually ~ but not always ~ encounter Elk Herds in The Park, but this time it was a large herd and they were soooo close, on either side of the road. You could have walked right up to them and petted them ~ if you were idiot enough to attempt to pet a wild elk. lol I was so delighted for Sharon to have the best possible 'elk viewing', and the opportunity to hear them bugle as well. Dorothy's Trick Photography. Doesn't the one on the right, especially, look like Sharon is standing on the same level, and the elk are Miniature ~ teeny-tiny, even? Just tickles me. Young buck. And the big guy, who posed for me AND bugled for us. |
