Subject: Thanksgiving (M:)

Good afternoon. I wanted to take a moment to share some thoughts as we
get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Let me start by thanking you for all of your hard work this past year.
You have embraced the YES culture and made perfecting the customer
experience our top priority. You have shown that we can succeed by
working together, breaking down silos and pushing even harder to achieve
our goals. You achieved this all while giving back to our communities at
record levels, further proof of the heart you show every day,
particularly in these tough economic times.

And, it is without doubt, that these are extraordinarily difficult
times. With the economic crises surrounding us, layoffs and reductions
in resources, we realize that it all combines to create stress and
pressure on you and your families. I want you to know, however, that
while Qwest is not immune to the economic turmoil and we carefully watch
how the changes in the economy may impact us, we are confident that we
are positioned well to weather this storm, particularly with our great
team of employees. After all, this company has been through tough times,
and as before, we will emerge stronger and more resolved than ever to
meet the challenges of the future.

So, this week, when you gather for Thanksgiving, please think of all of
those who have been impacted by these difficult times. In addition,
please take a moment to thank our employees who will be working during
this holiday. We appreciate their dedication and service.

Most of all have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving.

-Ed

Dear Ed..

Last quarter, after all the bills, payroll and debts were paid, Qwest made $150 million dollars pure profit.
So thank you for your thanksgiving greeting and I hope you choke on your fking turkey, you greedy little sht..

With comlete disgust.

Safebet.

If we take demand days the day after the holiday do we get paid the holiday? I would think so since I would code it pdp. Did anyone ask that question during contract interp?

Pdp is excused time paid, you would get the holiday off paid.  It only applies to the unexcused time off before or after the holiday.

WC depends on the state... You still mark the time as an on the job injury.  In Washington State, time loss is in effect after the 3rd day of absence, but the injury and it's care are still paid by Sedgwick.  Be sure to call Unicall and when you see your doctor, report it as an on the job injury.

the holiday rule went into effect with ratification.....

you talk asif ti's your right to callout and get paid to take time to be with your family by claiming that you're  sick

thanks network folks, the cost of callouts on the day before or after a holiday last year was more than a   million $$$$$$$  and over 70% of the callouts were network
folks.......

caution in calling out...be very careful it could bite you in the backside
especially if the local manager wants to be nasty and see's you out and about or you are reported by a coworker.........

there could be an investigation and suspension and posible termination for theft and falsification of campany records

it's no wonder they are suplusing .........

the network folks give them all the reasons in the world to cut
networks have got  techs that have been hangin out at c.o.'s and then charging huge
o.t charges,  tech's that hide out to avoid work and then turn tickets back(both actual abitration cases).

the behavior is probably still happening.

how can the union defend that type of behavior>>>>???????

it's sickening and  indefsensible.......

you folks just can't get it thru you thick skulls that

you've caused the QJD issue with your behavior......
you just keep shooting yourselves with the collective foot and then yelling that the union isn't helping.......

on a little lighter side....

the company isn't using the QJD system correctly, if your local steward doesn't know how to scrub the QJD numbers to get the actual correct figures. Maybe it's time to replace some stewards before  your local gets sued for lack for fair representation.  Call D7 if you haven't heard  or know about scrubbing the QJD numbers.....educate yourselves since the local in your area isn't doing it. Recall your local elected officals if they aren't educating members.

In the mean time,  make sure your CWA house is clean and in order.........

try not to give them any more ammunition so that you can shoot yourselves  in the foot.........

Dear Pest....
The only people whoever get called out are in network... we are a network company.  They don't need sales and collections folks in the middle of the night.  We got rid of operator services a long time ago, so yes, you betcha it's network that gets the call outs.  Customers want their service.  Network employees are pulling weekend and holiday duty all the time.  Some have never had Christmas eve off in 29 years (if it was on a weekday), but it's the job they signed on for. They are scheduled to work evening and night shifts as well.  When folks are ill or need to be home to care for a family member, that's where they should be.  It's life, take a deep breath, it happens.  Or is Ebeneezer your first name?

Reported by a co-worker?  Don't even think about going there.  They aren't surplussing because of call outs, they're surplussing because people at the top mismanaged the business and we don't sell the services that people want to buy any longer.  We're like the Big 3 automakers, if you provide a service people want and need they'll buy it, but we quit listening to our customers, to our employees... we no longer provide what people want, so they go with the companies who can deliver a better network to their door and it's connected to their own wireless network.

We, the employees, are not the problem at Qwest.  We've been the solution to every problem they have created in one way, shape or form.  They've (corporate officers) made it our responsibility to bail their butts out... we've been reorganized, down sized, re-engineered, outsourced, surplussed, force adjusted, laterally moved, laid off and retired, we've been re-processed more than a can of spam or a pound of hotdogs.  We do more with less, every day and the less is becoming the preferred quantity of time spent with customers and in installing or repairing service.

Everyone who breaks the rules intentionally knows the ramifications, the consequences they'll suffer.  You don't need to chastise the rest of us for the sins of a very, very small if any group of people.

Please spend your time writing letters to Mr. Mueller, members of the board and upper management... explaining to them the err of their ways.  Network isn't the problem, they are the solution.

Qwestpest is the most SOUR employee I've seen in over 40 years. It's easy to see he's NEVER been a steward or held an office in OUR union. Nope he just sits back and bitches about his fellow employees. What a MAROON.

pest, what you don't get is that there have been a few employees who abused the system from time to time. Most of us worked hard in our jobs, but the company used the faults of a few people to punish all of us & create an environment where they make big bucks in their million dollar management bank accounts at the cost of poor service and poor plant which then effects all of the good techs ability to do a good job.

This is what is known as a self-fulfilling prophecy. And also, a negative loop. The negative crap goes around and around an around effecting everyone negatively.

My point, Pest, is that instead of our management team dealing with each individual who might have needed training or coaching or in the rare case, discipline, they created metrics that hurt and harassed everyone. The pay-off for them is more money short term (less time fixing plant and helping customers) but running the company into the ground.

You really need to take a big picture view of this situation and realize it's not just you and your little personal problems with another tech. This is a problem that has infiltrated all levels in this company and will probably be it's downfall.

And, pnb, I think 'pest' meant "call-out" in terms of calling out sick not call-outs on overtime.....I could be wrong, but that's how I read it.
