Bisbee, why don't you run for the bargaining committee at the national convention in 2011, so the rest of us can blame you next time. |

You can't be elected if you don't run. |

I have too many enemies at the top to be elected. It's not the membership who elects you, it's the delegates. I do understand the meaning of futility |

I understand who elects the nominees; however, the officers of the local work for their membership. CWA is a bottom up organization, not a top down organization. Your leadership should be soliciting who the membership wants to elect to the bargaining committee. My local knew who was running before the convention occurred, and we discussed the candidates who were running, and decided who we would support. I would imagine yours could do the same. None of the CWA Staff determine who is elected, so if your local wants you to go, your local needs to support you at the District meeting prior to the Convention, and during convention prior to the nominations. But you already knew that, because you've held those top positions. |

Good in theory, but I've been around long enough to know how polictics works. I have too many enemies at the top to be elected. |

I don't disagree with the politics opinion. |

All politics are local. Regardless of how hard working, outspokent, well-intended anyone may be, if the local's politics are not supportive of a local person, they don't have much a chance for success. Bisbee can help educate, motivate, agitate, mobilize and engerize his/her local, not just when the contract is put before us, but when the call is made for bargaining issues, for grievances that support the need for changes in the contract, etc. No need to pound your head against the wall when you know your talents are better used elsewhere, the key is to use them somewhere to make a difference, not just complain about things. ps... I'm not saying Bisbee was complaining, it's just a general statement made to the populace to start walking their talk, 24x7, 365 every year. |
