As a recent retiree, I'd like to talk to an honest-to-God REAL Qwest employee.  Not someone in India or the Philippines.   (I'm still bitter about my job going to India and my sister's to the Philippines.)  I think I can do better on my local service too.  I don't know if reps get sales credit on 100% concession accounts (not gonna upgrade my DSL or take DirectTV) so I'll try to minimize the time spent on the phone.   After working there for 30 years, I can't stand the damned thing!   I prefer email.

I'll understand if no one wants to take the order.  The numbers were next-to-impossible to meet when I was a rep back in the '90s and I know they're totally impossible now.  All I can do in return is a glowing letter of recommendation which I understand is rather ho-hum these days.  Just thought I'd ask before calling and having to try to get past Dustin to talk to someone.

I'm a 2002 retiree with "grandfathered" over 30 yr 100% concession for local and intralata long distance.

I called the B.O. a few weeks ago about changing my long distance form the 5 cent/minute to the $20 a month unlimited.

I was told that post 1990 retirees can't change any aspect of their service and still keep the 100% concession. And if you do make any changes and decide you want to reverse the changes you can't get the 100% concession back.

SO, I called the Verizon concession line and was told that Qwest retirees are not allowed to get any type of reduced rates for Cell service. It only applies to Active Qwest Employees.

Think twice before you make any changes....

Scotty

I think the B.O told you some wrong info.  You can change to a current qwest package and change your features in order to get bundle discounts off of other services such as internet. You would still get 100% concession on your hp and intralata but a lot of retirees do not have a home phone package which entitles you to bundle discounts off of other services. I would call the business office back and have them conference in the auto pay dept which can pull the info under which you are retired.  Retirees do not get any verizon disc thru Qwest directly and unfortunately the only people allowed to do the migrations are the outsourcing not q employees.

Actually I'm on a Custom Choice plan with 2 lines which is probably 20 years old. In fact on the bill for the 2nd line it states

"Additional Line Custom Choice at discontinued rate."

And I've been on 100% concession since 1999.

The problem with the other bundled items is I don't want them. DSL is 1.5 meg remote, and I can't get satellite because of my neighbors trees.

I was just asking about the $20 versus $.05 long distance plans which I was told would require a plan change.

Last year I tried DSL and was told THEN as well, that if I wanted the employee discount I would lose the 100% concession.

The usual left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing?
At this point... I really don't know who is right.

I retired w/30 in 2003.  If you want to keep you 100% concession on your home phone service, not including the interlata LD, then you won't see the discounts on DSL, MSN, wireless or DirecTV.  If you want those discounts, then you'll get the lesser discount on your home phone service.  It's an either or.  With Verizon, they will provide a CWA member discount, so check on that.  Do the math, how much more you would save if you gave up the 100% concession vs the piece parting out.  AT&T is the only union provider of cell service.  Check their pricing plans, they also offer a discount for CWA/Any union member.  Shop around.

OK... so I called and this time they said I could change from the Corporate plan to the Unlimited Plan.

Find out tomorrow morning when I call repair and check on my PIC and LPIC codes.

Since I have Verizon, I'll check and see what they say.

Thanx for everyones help and ideas.
