(note - this is a hypothetical forward looking discussion - a crystal ball was used :) )
here are my predictions:
more layoffs - just dont know if they will be announced every quarter or every other quarter. like dick said customers = work = jobs (so employees should be able to take care of customers and not have their jobs based solely on numbers.)
more pennies pinched and scrimping - not sending the contract to all employees is just a way to save $$$. plan on more things like that.
more lack of respect -
merger? - i dont know - maybe not with a recession. (word is that retailers did horribly this holiday season so expect more layoffs and store closings - unemployment could go up to 8% or 9% next year)
the managers will get their bonuses - after all they are working so hard - which will further alienate craft from management. instead of a team it is us vs them.
office closings/consolidations galore - my guess is that real estate will be looked at - and to save money buildings will be sold/leased and offices will be moved around.
all titles/departments looked at - non essential work will be shut down.
again - this is a hypothetical discussion -
