Q-01
January 5, 2009
TO:
All Local Unions Representing “Green-circled?Qwest CSSs FROM:
Reed Roberts, Administrative Director to the Vice President SUBJECT:
Correction in the calculation of 'green-circled' CSS Wage Rate
When the negotiated wage rates went into effect, the hourly rates for those Customer Service Specialists who were 'green-circled' when the title was moved to Wage Scale 'T' was not calculated correctly.
We received confirmation from Labor today that the wage rate for those CSS's who are in the 'green-circled' rate(s) is being corrected:
"This is a follow-up to the issue you raised at the last Bargaining Agents meeting regarding the general wage increase for employees in the CSS job title who were green circled in 2005 when the Technical Career Ladder was eliminated. You are correct, the general wage increase, effective October 12, 2008, was only applied to the base wage (WS T) and not the portion above that, which is part of these employees' green circled basic wage."
The employer stated that the correction will be made, but they will not be able to do so prior to the next payroll close.
We will be notified of when the correction will be programmed and the under-payments made up to the affected employees.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
