We can create a listserv, where the manager, disconnected will approve members to the list and e-mails would go to your personal e-mails rather than being posted on an electronic board that anyone can access and read. Anyone who wants to let folks know of things, posts to the address of the listserv. The downside is that the sender's e-mail is visible as the sender/poster of message, if you want to maintain annonimity. The manager monitors for content, reminds folks of what might be misconstrued as proprietary, if need be, etc.
Yes there has been what could be considered proprietary info posted on this board, if you were to take the company's definition. There has been information that the company would consider 'subject to bargaining' and can't be discussed or taken to a public forum under that pos letter of agreement. (This is why the CWA District 7 website has a password to access bargaining issues.) And when it comes to grievances, discipline, etc. they're in control. We can grieve it, file complaints with the NLRB, etc., but until those issues are resolved there, the poster is suspended, disciplined, and in the worse case scenario, terminated. I'm not saying we shouldn't discuss issues, but knowing what the rules are, we need to play safe and smart. A listserv vs a bulletin board. Again, I would hope that this is not the only venue where people are discussing these issues or taking action on them. This is my greatest worry. We can't be all talk and no walk, otherwise we're just as effective as those folks in leadership roles that many on this board complain about doing nothing.
I was just offering another means of communicating with one another that is thru e-mails to individuals rather that a bulletin board. It's splitting hairs, but you're not 'posting' something for all to read, you're communicating with individual(s).
