Please excuse me for not updating you and all your "Prayer Angels" sooner. I have been home only twice in the last 20 days and accessing my e-mails from Ronald McDonald's house has been difficult.
Here is the latest update:
My son-in-law David is doing very well, in fact he will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow. That could bring another set of problems as he cannot be left alone and Kade is still in the hospital. But God has brought us this far and he will show us how to handle this next phase. We have been told Jill's family can use Ronald's house as long as they need it. What a wonderful place, I will tell you all about it another time. I have found a new charity. We are an hour and 15 minutes from the University, so having a place to stay two blocks from the hospital has been a God sent. David will be off work for three months so of course finances are a worry for them. I am so thankful my husband and I are in a position to help them.
Kade's process has been much slower...but... he is making process. He is off the vent, and all IV lines have been pulled except his nasal feeding tube. He is now getting oral pain medication through his feeding tube and is tolerating that very well. He is still (in what the hospital staff calls) his agitation stage of recovery and that has been very hard to watch as he is very restless, moans and cries. My daughter gets very distraught when this happens. Other times he just sleeps like an angel. Yesterday Kade smiled at my Jill for the first time. She was teasing him and he lit up the room with a huge smile. The therapist saw this and told my daughter that was a huge step towards recovery. We felt that smile came directly from God. The therapists are cautiously optimistic about his recovery. We are willing to take anything God will give us, although we are praying for more. I hope he doesn't think we are being too greedy!!!!
My family thanks all of you for your wonderful prayers. I cry every time I read the e-mail prayers you forward to me. I am amazed how strangers have taken this burden and made it their own. Please keep forwarding them to me as I get strength and comfort from them.
If you have time, keep the prayers coming, especially include my daughter as she is going to have her plate very full. Her faith has been her strength!
If you have any prayers left over please include the soul of the man who ran the stop sign, that caused the accident. There are indications that he may have been trying to commit suicide. If that is the case we want God to forgive him.
Love to you all!
