"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."
(James 1:2-4)
I believe one of the most difficult things for us to grasp is the simple fact that our God is truly ordering our steps twenty four hours a day and He tells us that His ways are higher than our ways. One of my prayers for all of us in 2007 is that we will quickly recognize the higher ways of God as He goes about opening doors for us to walk through. Here is a case in point:
The Lord woke me the other night and I found myself here at my computer checking on some of you that had written and endeavoring to hear the Lord in order to minister personally to you. I noticed that my printer was not working and finally called the service department of Hewlett Packard. After about ten minutes, I was connected with a live voice from a person in India. This can be very frustrating in trying to understand the person from another country but this was not the case with Niloy, my new friend from India.
The Lord had sent some much needed rain here earlier in the night along with some lightning and I figured that my printer might have been hit for the clock that was plugged into the same electric socket was not working either. Niloy instructed me to pull the cord out and simply plug it back in again. Both the printer and clock started working without any problem. Niloy had me try the printer to make sure it was working and this allowed a few minutes to visit with Niloy.
I explained to Niloy that I was a believer and that I believed that God loved him enough to awake me in order to visit with him about Jesus. He informed me that he had learned English at a Christian school growing up and they had shared Jesus with him but he was still a Hindu. I asked him if he would like for me to pray for him that God might speak to him about Jesus once again. He seemed quite ready for me to do so and I found myself being filled with Joy as I lifted him up to the throne of God. Please join with me today to continue to lift up Niloy as our God continues to be faithful to bring Niloy into a saving knowledge of Jesus.
"...as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God makes things grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow." (1 Corinthians 3:5-7)
May we each glory this year in the task assigned to us by the Lord and be quick to recognize the moment by moment task that is assigned us each day. Glory!
May God's richest blessings be with you this week as you begin to walk out 2007 in Him. Homer Owen
