A dear friend of mine just had double bypass surgery and I was by his place this morning praying with him and thanking the Lord for giving him a new lease on life. It is pretty amazing all the things that they are able to do these days on our bodies to make us live longer and more productive lives. As we were praying together the Lord began bringing a lot of scriptures to my mind about the heart. This God that has bought us with the blood of Jesus has taken on the awesome responsibility of looking after us with his perfect love.
Yes, He is a perfect loving Father who only has good gifts to give us. He has told us that when our heart is fixed on Him that he will show us great and mighty things that he has in store for us. The Lord gives us great liberty when we turn to him and worship him in spirit and truth. I was walking around my friends home yesterday praising and thanking God for his goodness and the word fixed or steadfast came to my mind concerning our hearts. Here is a passage from a Psalm that David used when he was in a cave hiding from Saul.
"My heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music, Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, reaching to the heavens: your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth." (Psalms 57:7-11)
Praise God that his love is steadfast or fixed on us and it never ceases. The Lord spoke to me that he had literally fixed my friend's heart and that because of this being done we could believe that it would be steadfast in beating at the right speed and pressure. The Lord took me back to the beginning and I saw this perfect heart being fixed into the body of Adam in the creation of man.
The perfect work of Calvary takes us back to Adam because we are hid in Jesus now and he is the second Adam. Glory! Lord, help us to see ourselves in you today. Thank you that you came forth from the grave with a new and perfect heart and not only this but you came forth with a perfectly restored body and that you are alive forever more. The following verse tells us how this all works ?now!
"If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you." (Romans 8:11)
May our God grant each of us today a believing heart for this marvelous truth. Let us become steadfast in our worship of him to be forever grateful to him with a thankful heart. Lord we acknowledge that your steadfast love of us never ceases and we are purposing to do the same towards you. Thank you Lord for causing us to have a steadfast heart towards you. Lord we fix our eyes and heart on you today.
