"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will experience His strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:28-31)
Isn't this a wonderful passage of scripture? Our God wants to give us his strength today. For us to receive this marvelous exchange of our weakness for his strength is ours simply for the believing. Are you able to say with me today these words:
Ruby and I sing a little chorus that goes like this. "I believe God, I believe God, ask what you will and it shall be done. Trust and obey, believe it and say, I believe, I believe God". Our father Abraham discovered a great secret of living in God that will revolutionize our lives if we will purpose in our hearts to do what he did. The account of Abraham begins shortly after the big blow up in Baghdad during his day. He either saw or heard what had happened where the people became confused and were no longer able to understand each other. (Genesis 11:1-9)
What was his secret? He purposed in his heart to seek God. What was the focus in this seeking? Remember, he had just seen a marvelous man-made city come to a screeching halt by the hand of God. So, he purposed to look for a God that would be the architect and builder of a city.
The secret that Abraham discovered is really quite simple. He saw that the man made city was not good and he purposed in his heart to seek God for His city. When God spoke to Abraham to get up and come with him so that he could show him a land where he would become a great nation and be blessed beyond his understanding, scripture tells us that Abraham left. Glory! Lord grant us grace and mercy today to leave where we are at and come with you to your promised land that you have for us.
I believe this God of ours desires to exchange his heart for ours. There is no way for us to understand this with our natural minds. In the 28th verse of Isaiah 40 we read these words ?"his understanding no one can fathom." The wonderful good news is that our God is not asking us to understand his goodness. Just believe it and receive it, like our father Abraham. Thank you Lord for your goodness today.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones." (Proverbs 3:5-8)
Lord, help us to unsmart ourselves today and cause us to purpose to lean on you, trusting you for what you have promised and grant us grace to say, I BELIEVE GOD.
