Peter rode round and round the yard day after daylooking at the gate, sometimes lifting the latch and peeping.
In the yard was boring it looked exciting outside the gate. Why couldn't he go and play out.
Everytime he lifted the latch he would open the gate a little bit further until it was wide open .
He could see nothing out there that was dangerous that would harm him.
He thought to himself if I go out a little bit I can see whats out there and then come back in.
So out he went riding on his trycycle a little bit further and a little bit further.
Then back in he came. see I knew I would be alright he thought and in he went for his lunch.
He couldnt eat his lunch fast enough he couldn't wait to try it again.
This time he went a lot futher and Bang the gate slammed shut and he was on the outside. He couldnt open it from the outside.
He was outside the gate he couldnt get in. The latch was to high the gate was shut. Fear came upon him not that he was outside but what would his mum say. She would be so angry. If only he had listened. He began to cry. It was so noisy out here and he was only small. He wished he was bigger if he had been bigger he would have been able to open the gate. He would be able to reach the latch.Wow! what happened next he didnt know, but as he turned the latch was in reach. He was taller he wasnt little any more.
He clicked down the latch and opened the gate, but it wasnt his garden he was in. He was in a book with wonderful words inside . Words that were alive. He wasnt frightened anymore. It was like a peace came over him. Welcome a voice said come. He hesitated but the voice said again welcome come. As he stepped out he found he was on a balcony. He looked around nothing was holding the balcony up His eyes opened wide as wide as dinner plates. There before him the words became pictures. All muddled up all mixed up all over. The beginning and the end together and all rolling before his eyes . It is a dream he thought and closed his eyes.He pinched himself to see if he was dreaming. There were rainbows and boats and people, there were songs and tears and joy. There was sadness and laughter all mixed up together. No he wasnt dreaming. The book closed turned flat on its side and before his eyes it opened at the first page. The voice again said welcome come. He stepped and he was there within the words within the pictures right inside right at the beginning. So much had happened so much was taking place that he laid his head on the first page and fell asleep He awoke back on the balcony but the book was still open. The voice said again welcome come see. The pages began to open up before his eyes and he was right within them.
Come come see as his eyes see you see come come with me on Peter's adventure.
