Peter and Lucy didnt like the next part of the Adventure.
What a long walk!. Peter and Lucy found themselves with Abram and Saria and lot he was Abram's nephew and all the people that were with them. God said" leave this place you are in and go to where I tell you," So Abram set off and Peter and Lucy went with them. There were no cars and buses like home. They had to walk They lived in tents, so they packed them up and off they went.One of the men told them that they were going to a place called Canaan. It was along way and Peter and Lucy got very tired. It had been fun up to now, but they didnt like walking all that way and going to a strange place they had never been, but it was another adventure and two of the men lifted them up on their shoulder for some of the way. They could see for miles across the country. It seemed like it went on forever. On and on they went, when would they stop."We've arrived were in Canaan," said Lucy They were so happy that they could stop, but no noone stopped they just carried on." We can't stop yet till we get to a tree of a place called Morah at Shechem" some of the boys said
God spoke to Abram again surprising Peter and Lucy "To you Abram and your family I give this land." They watched as he built an altar in thanks to God's promise. It was nice to stay for a little while,Peter and Lucy were so tired, but Oh no they were off walking again they went towards the hills someone told them it was the East of a place called Bethel and there Abram put up his tent. Oh what a joy the were staying they could rest then maybe play for a while. There was lots to see when walking, but it made you so tired. Perhaps you could make a picture of the things they saw.
He built another altar in thanks to God and Lucy and Peter thought they were staying, but off they went again.
There was no food in the land where they were and the people were very hungry, so Abram and all with him went down to Egypt to live for a little while. There was food there for them .Peter and Lucy settled down in Egypt after the long Journey and stayed with Abram, but Saria was taken to the palace. Abram told everyone Saria was his sister Peter told Lucy and she has had to go to the palace, The Pharoh was very angry when he found out she was his wife Abram was called to go to the Palace.
Peter and Lucy went with him.They had a wonderful time looking round. It had more rooms than the giant hotel they stayed in when they went on holiday. They had never been in a Palace before. People were everywhere Gaurds cooks servants cleaners everyone running up and down looking after Pharoh his family and others who lived in the palace. Peter and Lucy had a feast in the kitchen food of everykind all different kinds of fruit every kind you could ever name
You could guess what kind of fruit they ate and write them down see who could find the most,
Do you know there was more fruit in the kitchen than at Lucy's Aunts wedding.The palace rooms were so tall and had great big pillars holding the roof up. To see the roof you had to hold your head right back and look up. Pictures were painted on some of them.
There were statues giant statues.Peter said it was just the place for a Pharoh. There were jewels too all different colours. There eyes opened wide as they went from room to room. It had beautiful gardens too.
Peter and Lucy followed the angry voice and it led them to the room with the throne in it. Pharoh was so angry with Abram.
Peter and Lucy were so frightened they hid behind a pillar as Abram stood before Pharoh.He was in trouble now thought Peter and hung onto Lucy as they peeped round the big pillar
"What have you done to me" he shouted at Abram. "Why didnt you tell me she was your wife why did you say she was your sister. All my people are becoming sick because of this."
"Here is your wife take her and go." Oh no,! thought Lucy and Peter not another long walk.
Abram had been given cattle and sheep silver and gold. When they sent him on his way he got to keep them.
Another long walk and they arrived in Bethel where Abram had put up his tent.
They all stayed there and Abram prayed to the Lord.
The land there was very small and with all the cattle Abram had and the ones Lot had there wasnt enough land for them all.
Lucy and Peter were very unsettled the people began to fight and argue over the land. Abram said to lot "lets split up
If you go to the left I will go to the right
and if you go to the right I will go to the left",
"Oh no!" Lucy said to Peter "not more walking." Looks like it" said Peter, but they were glad Abram and lot were splitting up they didnt like the arguing. They would stay with Abram and Saria.
Lot looked and took the whole plain of Jordan it was good there "Like the Lord's garden" Lucy said "plenty to eat and space for the people and the animals."
Abram stayed in Canan and Lot went on his way.Lucy and Peter were so happy Abram stayed and they stayed with him.
God spoke to Abram and said
"Look to the North, South, East and West as far as you can see
I give the land to you and all your children."
"They will be as many as the dust on the Earth. Walk through the land up and down and across from left to right.
I am giving you all this."
Abram moved again and Peter and Lucy went with him.
They watched him as he made an altar and gave thanks to God.
