Peter and Lucy were very scared and stayed together. Jacob was going to meet Esau. "Esau was after killing him for what he had done to him. Thats why we all went to his uncle Laban's" said Peter They had a good stay and a happy time at Laban's and they wanted to stay there, it was fun there and they didnt want to leave,but now they were on the move again.
"Are you sure he said he was going to meet Esau" said Lucy, "Yes" said Peter "he's going to meet him thats what I heard. He's sent a messenger to let him know he is coming, The messenger came back and Esau coming with 400 men." "Oh Lucy we had better stay right away theres going to be a big battle after what he did to Esau. Jacob is so scared that he has divided everyone and the flocks too" said Peter "I wonder why"said Lucy "Has he forgotten God's promise to his grandfather Abraham and his Father Isaac," but Lucy and Peter were wrong about Esau.
Jacob had some gifts for Esau. He sent everyone and everything ahead over the stream but he didnt go he stayed away all night and wrestled with a man. Lucy didnt watch she didnt like fighting but Peter did and as Jacob was winning the man just touched his hip and out the bone went, but he still didnt give in even though he was limping. Peter said he was very brave." Do you know Peter " one of the men said "His name has been changed tonight too. It isn't Jacob anymore It's Israel."As The sun rose above him Jacob was limping and do you know from that day even now the Israelites wont eat meat from that part of the hip bone because Jacob's hip was touched near the tendon. Peter went to find Lucy and tell her what had happened and as he found her they looked and saw Esau coming with four hundred men. Jacob was so scared when he saw him he began to divide his family and servants
"Look he's letting the maidservants and their children go first. Leah and her children next. and Rachel and Joseph behind they are his favourites" said Lucy "Hes going on in front and look he's bowing to Esau. Esau is not angry anymore hes running to him look Peter hes hugging him and kissing him" said Lucy "and hes crying." Lucy cried too but Peter was a boy a big boy so he didnt even though he felt inside that he could.
"He wants to know who everyone is" said Lucy " they are not going to fight at all." Lucy was so pleased she didnt like fighting.
"Jacob is giving him the gifts Esau said no he did not need them, but he took them Jacob wanted to give them to him so much Im so happy they are not fighting" said Lucy "Are you not happy Peter"Peter was but he wasn't going to let anyone know
Esau wanted them to travel on with him "I hope he doesnt" said Peter "I'm so tired after the journey and everyone else must be so tired to. We have travelled a long way," Jacob said he would stay for a little while then everyone could rest so Esau and his men went on but they didnt stay there they went to a place with the name Sucoth, Lucy wondered when they would stop and settle she didnt like all this travelling .Why couldnt they go back to Laban's he wasnt angry any more, but they didnt.They had stayed in paddan Aram for a long time and now they settled just outside the city of Shechem.Leah had had a daughter to Jacob also, and she went out to meet the women in Shechem. I dont know how said Lucy, but she got very hurt and one of the men from another tribe wants to marry her, they said choose whatever gift we should give you for her and we will give it., Jacob agreed but simeon and Levi his sons Dinah's brothers, didnt they killed all the men in the city Jacob said they had caused trouble but they wouldnt agree to their sister being hurt.
"God spoke to Jacob we are returning to Bethel" said Peter. "Ime glad" said Lucy "I didnt like it there." Bethel is the place where Jacob had his dream and God promised he would go back there. Maybe the people will follow God now instead of all the foreign ones. Jacob is called Israel now remember God changed it. Hes giving him the land he gave Abraham and Issac Look hes setting up a stone pillar It is a good place to be. Hes blessed it and called it Bethel . Then they upset Lucy again and moved on. We have to stop Rachel is having another baby and it is being born. Everyone was so sad Rachel had a little boy, but she died he was called Benjamin he was the youngest of the twelve sons of Jacob.
Rachel was buried on the way to Ephraim(Bethlehem) going back to Jacobs home, Where Issac their Father lived
He lived many years and died
Both Jacob and Esau buried him.
"Ime so happy they are together again" both of them said together
"We are getting to stay here, were not moving on Peter" said Lucy and danced around.
Joseph was the favourite son of Jacob. When he was was seventeen he looked after his Father's sheep with some of his brother's,
But that is another story
